| April 13, 2021 7:35 am PDT

Tuesday offers up a massive MLB betting slate. I won’t waste time with a colorful intro here, as there are many games to touch on.

If you’re thinking about betting on baseball on April 13th, first marvel at how many games are available to you at your favorite online sportsbook.

  • Boston Reds Sox vs. Minnesota Twins
  • Oakland Athletics vs. Arizona Diamondbacks
  • San Diego Padres vs. Pittsburgh Pirates
  • Seattle Mariners vs. Baltimore Orioles
  • New York Yankees vs. Toronto Blue Jays
  • Texas Rangers vs. Tampa Bay Rays
  • Philadelphia Phillies vs. New York Mets
  • Miami Marlins vs. Atlanta Braves
  • Chicago Cubs vs. Milwaukee Brewers
  • Washington Nationals vs. St. Louis Cardinals
  • Detroit Tigers vs. Houston Astros
  • Los Angeles Angels vs. Kansas City Royals
  • Cleveland Indians vs. Chicago White Sox
  • Cincinnati Reds vs. San Francisco Giants
  • Colorado Rockies vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

See, I told you this schedule is a doozy. It’s 15 games in all, which means every MLB team is in action on Tuesday.

The fun gets going early, with Boston and Minnesota squaring off at 2:10 pm ET, and then Oakland and Arizona wage war a little over an hour later.

It could make sense to get an early jump on your MLB bets for Tuesday, so let’s dive into today’s MLB predictions and top betting picks.

Boston Reds Sox vs. Minnesota Twins Predictions

  • Twins to beat Red Sox
  • Predicted total: 8-8.5

Anytime you have two potent offenses like these facing off, I think the Over comes into play.

Some will shy away from it due to Kenta Maeda’s presence (1-0, 2.61 ERA). Admittedly, he’s why I like the Twins to win here.

That said, Nathan Eovaldi isn’t an arm to fear on the other side. The offenses and the park also promote a good amount of scoring too.

Give me the Twins and the Over in this one.

Oakland Athletics vs. Arizona Diamondbacks Predictions

  • Athletics to beat Diamondbacks
  • Predicted total: 8-8.5

I said on Monday that this could be a series Oakland utilizes to turn things around after a slow start, and that’s still possible.

Merrill Kelly is a beatable pitcher, while Jesus Luzardo is too talented to pitch as poorly as he has so far in 2021.

I think there’s enough here to consider the Over, but the A’s need to come alive at some point and they have the more talented pitcher on the mound. The main bet here is going with Oakland across the board.

San Diego Padres vs. Pittsburgh Pirates Predictions

  • Padres to beat Pirates
  • Predicted total: 7-7.5

I swear, anytime I tell people to bet the Under at PNC Park, it turns into PNC Coors. Work against me if you feel compelled, but I’m again saying there won’t be much scoring here.

Blake Snell (1.86 ERA) is a huge reason why, but Chad Kuhl can pitch solid ball on the other side, and this park should limit the long ball.

San Diego still has a significant pitching edge, and even without Fernando Tatis, they have the far more imposing lineup. I like the Padres and the Under here.

Seattle Mariners vs. Baltimore Orioles Predictions

  • Orioles to beat Mariners
  • Predicted total: 9-9.5

I think this one is all about the Over. Camden Yards can be very kind to even the worst offense and not so sweet to the best of pitchers.

This game has two middling southpaws in John Means and Nick Margevicius, and while the lineups can be bad, everything sets this up to be a bit of a shootout.

Baltimore at home feels like a solid enough bet, but I’d hammer the Over in this spot.

New York Yankees vs. Toronto Blue Jays Predictions

  • Yankees to beat Blue Jays
  • Predicted total: 8-8.5

This one has good pitching, but it should also be a nice hitting environment, and the offensive firepower here is undeniable.

Toronto has the pitching edge with Hyun-jin Ryu toeing the rubber, but it may not be by much with Jameson Taillon projecting pretty well for the pinstripes.

Both pitchers actually could rack up some Ks in this one, but there is too much power to ignore here. That and the Yanks historically crush southpaws.

I have mild interest in the Yanks, but the Over should be an appealing priority for bettors.

Texas Rangers vs. Tampa Bay Rays Predictions

  • Rays to beat Rangers
  • Predicted total: 8-8.5

Kyle Gibson rebounded after getting absolutely destroyed in his 2021 debut, but I’m not about to get behind him on the road against the Rays.

Tampa Bay has many strikeouts in their lineup, but this is still an advantageous spot for them. I’m siding with the Rays here, but not just because of Gibson.

There’s also the fact that Texas simply isn’t very good. They probably don’t have enough righty power to get to Ryan Yarbrough, and even if they do manage to chase him early, they’d have to deal with a nasty Rays bullpen.

I love the Rays, and the ballpark promotes the Under.

Philadelphia Phillies vs. New York Mets Predictions

  • Phillies to beat Mets
  • Predicted total: 7-7.5

Fans should brace for a tense defensive battle on Tuesday, as the Mets and Phillies produce two quality pitchers in Aaron Nola and Taijuan Walker.

Nola is obviously the more respected hurler, and the Phillies are stacked offensively. I don’t find it hard at all to back the Phillies, even if everyone hates them due to controversy right now.

Miami Marlins vs. Atlanta Braves Predictions

  • Braves to beat Marlins
  • Predicted total: 7-7.5

It’s perhaps a knee-jerk reaction to pencil in the Braves here, but they are loaded offensively, at home, and will have Max Fried on the mound.

Miami has not looked sharp offensively to start 2021, and while they have a solid arm in Pablo Lopez toeing the rubber, he’s no lock to slow down Atlanta.

All signs point to the Braves here, but the pitching and park could keep this game total in check.

Chicago Cubs vs. Milwaukee Brewers Predictions

  • Brewers to beat Cubs
  • Predicted total: 8-8.5

I tend to favor the Cubs in these battles with the Brewers, but I can’t shy away from Brandon Woodruff here.

Both he and Kyle Hendricks won’t benefit from this one going down at American Family Field, but Woodruff is the better arm that can induce more swings and misses.

He gives Milwaukee the edge here, but the park alone promotes the Over.

Washington Nationals vs. St. Louis Cardinals Predictions

  • Cardinals to beat Nationals
  • Predicted total: 7-7.5

I’m not expecting much scoring in this one, as this is perhaps the top pitching battle of the slate with Jack Flaherty hosting Stephen Strasburg.

This will be the second start of the year for Stras, and I tend to think he handles the Cards just fine.

Flaherty also possesses elite strikeout upside, and the Nats are a watered-down offense at this point. The park cements the Under for me, but I’m slightly more afraid of the St. Louis sticks.

Detroit Tigers vs. Houston Astros Predictions

  • Astros to beat Tigers
  • Predicted total: 8-8.5

Houston could be in for a fun night against southpaw Matthew Boyd, who can miss bats but has major fly ball and hard contact issues against righties.

The Astros are loaded with righty power, so yeah.

On the other side is Jake Odorizzi, who makes his Astros debut. He’s a fine pitcher, but because Houston historically improves the potential for their arms, Detroit bats feel even less scary than usual.

They’re really not scary at all, so you can imagine that Houston and the Under feel pretty good in this spot.

Los Angeles Angels vs. Kansas City Royals Predictions

  • Angels to beat Royals
  • Predicted total: 8-8.5

Dylan Bundy and Danny Duffy engage in a potential pitcher’s duel in Kansas City on Tuesday.

L.A. hopes to continue a hot start while the Royals look to hold down the fort at home. The Angels are healthier right now and have the righty power to give Duffy some trouble.

I think the pitching and park are both good enough to keep this game under control, though. I’d target the Halos and the Under in this one.

Cleveland Indians vs. Chicago White Sox Predictions

  • Indians to beat White Sox
  • Predicted total: 7-7.5

I apologize if I said any other game could be the slate’s best pitching matchup because this is #1 right here.

Shane Bieber and Lucas Giolito face off in a positively epic clash. Not only are these two elite aces, but these are AL Central rivals, and this game features two capable offenses.

Chicago has the better lineup, and they’re at home, but Biebers is impossible to get to. I have to side with The Biebs here, but the Under is a smash bet on Tuesday.

Cincinnati Reds vs. San Francisco Giants Predictions

  • Reds to beat Giants
  • Predicted total: 7-7.5

This is another solid pitching matchup, as Luis Castillo tries to get his 2021 going, and Kevin Gausman hopes to silence the Reds.

Gausman is better than people think, and Castillo can be elite when he’s on his game. I think both combined with a home run-neutralizing ballpark design make the Under a great play here.

Colorado Rockies vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Predictions

  • Dodgers to beat Rockies
  • Predicted total: 9-9.5

Trevor Bauer makes his third start for the Dodgers, and I see zero reasons why he can’t slice up the Rockies here.

Colorado is way less explosive away from Coors Field. If that wasn’t problematic enough, Bauer is one of the best arms in the majors, and then there’s that elite L.A. offense.

The Dodgers do have some injuries right now, but they’re as deep as anyone, they’re at home, and Antonio Senzatela isn’t a pitcher to flee from.

I love the Dodgers, but their offense and Senzatela’s presence have me digging the Over here.

Best MLB Bets for Tuesday, April 13th

  • Mariners vs. Orioles Over 7 (+100)
  • Yankees to Win (+101)
  • Rays (-1.5) +115
  • Brewers to Win (-135)
  • Indians vs. White Sox Under 7 (+104)
  • Astros (-1.5) +105
  • Reds to Win (+100)

It’s a big slate, but I was a bit surprised to fall in love with so many bets. Sometimes the value is just too good to ignore, I guess.

You can still refer to my MLB predictions above for other bets you’re interested in, but the MLB picks listed here are my preferred bets on Tuesday.

A game in Camden Yards with suspect pitching set with an over/under of 7 at +100? Yeah, sign me up. I also will snatch up the Yanks as +101 dogs, I’ll also grab dog money with Houston to win by two, and I’ll back Luis Castillo and the Reds as mild +100 underdogs, too.

That’s just an insane amount of value, but then the Rays to beat the lowly Rangers by two runs (+115) also stands out, Milwaukee to get the win at home at -135 looks good, and the Under at +104 in that Cleveland game looks pretty great, too.

That’s seven strong MLB bets I like for today, and most offer plus money.

The goal is to get to 4-3 here and profit, but I like all of these bets. Pick and choose your spots, as needed, and use the best MLB betting sites to get in on the action.
