Picks and Predictions for MLB Games – June 14th, 2022

| June 13, 2022 4:27 pm PDT

My MLB picks for last Tuesday didn’t have much success, but we bounced back with a 5-3 performance on Thursday. More importantly, my best bets earned a clean sweep. How will my MLB predictions look for Tuesday, June 14?

Every team will be in action, with the Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Cardinals playing a doubleheader. We won’t cover either game, but we have MLB odds for 10 games on Tuesday’s slate.

Which teams will score a victory in my MLB expert picks? Let’s start with the MLB odds for Tuesday.

MLB Odds for Tuesday, June 14th

  • Marlins (+132) vs. Phillies (-143), O/U 8.5
  • Rays (+179) vs. Yankees (-195), O/U 8
  • Orioles (+184) vs. Blue Jays (-201), O/U 9.5
  • Brewers (+127) vs. Mets (-137), O/U 8
  • Athletics (+194) vs. Red Sox (-213), O/U 9.5
  • Astros (-121) vs. Rangers (+111), O/U 9
  • Guardians (-151) vs. Rockies (+139), O/U 10.5
  • Reds (+107) vs. Diamondbacks (-117), O/U 9
  • Royals (+208) vs. Giants (-230), O/U 8
  • Angels (+157) vs. Dodgers (-171), O/U 9

It’s always interesting to see how the MLB betting odds affect my MLB picks. We have to start with the most noticeable betting trends for the 10 games on the board.

We have quite a few matchups that feature top 10 teams against the spread vs. bottom ten. The best teams against the spread include the New York Mets, Texas Rangers, Baltimore Orioles, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Boston Red Sox.

Their opponents feature teams that rank bottom ten against the spread. The Milwaukee Brewers have the worst mark among teams in action, going 25-37 against the spread.

Will the run total affect my free MLB picks? We have three matchups among teams ranking top 10 at going over their run total. The best teams among that group are the Philadelphia Phillies, Kansas City Royals, and Colorado Rockies. The Cleveland Guardians vs. Rockies matchup features the highest run total.

We only have one game with both teams ranking among the league leaders at going under their run total. The Tampa Bay Rays and New York Yankees have gone under in 54.2 percent of their games.

The betting trends should have a significant impact on your MLB betting picks. Feel free to visit BetOnline to make your MLB picks today.

Top MLB Predictions for June 14th

  • Phillies Over Marlins
  • Yankees Over Rays
  • Blue Jays Over Orioles
  • Mets Over Brewers
  • Red Sox Over Athletics
  • Astros Over Rangers
  • Guardians Over Rockies
  • Reds Over Diamondbacks
  • Giants Over Royals
  • Dodgers Over Angels

My free MLB picks don’t feature many upsets for Tuesday, June 14. Let’s talk about why I’m backing the favorites.

The Philadelphia Phillies and Miami Marlins have been surging lately, but the Phillies should have the advantage. Bryce Harper should continue his torrid pace, leading the Phillies to victory.

My MLB predictions have the New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays winning the AL East matchups. I wanted to take the Tampa Bay Rays, but Corey Kluber hasn’t been as strong lately. It’s hard to go against the Yankees offense.

The Milwaukee Brewers have been moving in the wrong direction, losing 10 of their last 12 games. Do we believe they’ll turn it around against the best team in the NL?

If we want to talk about two teams moving in opposite directions, check out the Boston Red Sox and Oakland Athletics.

  • Oakland Athletics: 1-9
  • Boston Red Sox: 9-2

That represents their record in June. There isn’t enough value for my MLB expert picks to side with the Athletics.

We’ll talk more about the Houston Astros and Cleveland Guardians, but my MLB free picks have them scoring a victory. The Cincinnati Reds are my lone upset pick. They’ve looked much better lately and recently split a four-game series with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers should end Tuesday’s slate with a victory. There’s not much to discuss with the Giants’ matchup, as they’re the better team. Dodgers starter Tony Gonsolin has a 1.54 ERA in his last six starts.

Best Bets for MLB Games on 6/14/22

  • Astros to Win (-121)
  • Reds to Win (+107)
  • Guardians vs. Rockies Under 10.5 Runs (-105)

The Houston Astros are a slight favorite over the Texas Rangers, despite holding an 8.5-game lead in the standings. It’s not that simple for my MLB picks today, as Astros starter Jose Urquidy has a 7.20 ERA in his last three starts.

Ultimately, my MLB pick revolves around the better offense. Astros DH Yordan Alvarez has been on a tear in June.

  • 19-38 (.500 batting average)
  • 3 home runs
  • 13 RBIs

Alvarez was one of my favorite sleepers in the updated 2022 AL MVP odds.

My free MLB picks today only has one upset, with the Cincinnati Reds defeating the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Diamondbacks have an eight-game lead in the standings, but that stems from Cincinnati’s 3-22 start.

Since May 6, the Reds’ 18-17 record is better than the Diamondbacks’ 16-20 mark. Cincinnati’s offense ranks top five in runs in that span. Can they keep it going against the Diamondbacks?

Reds starter Tyler Mahle had 10 strikeouts, allowing one run in six innings against the Diamondbacks on June 9.

The Cleveland Guardians and Colorado Rockies are among the league leaders at going over their run total. My MLB baseball free picks aren’t buying into a high-scoring game. That has to do with Guardians starter Shane Bieber.

  • 1.67 ERA
  • 1.05 WHIP
  • 7 Walks
  • 39 Strikeouts

Those represent his numbers in his last five starts. It’s hard to see the Rockies scoring more than three runs against him. Honestly, I don’t have much faith in the Guardians scoring 6+ runs. That should keep this matchup under 10.5 runs.
