Picks and Predictions for MLB Games – June 9th, 2022

| June 8, 2022 3:09 pm PDT

My MLB picks have been on a hot streak over the last two weeks, but we had an average 5-6 performance on Tuesday. I also went under .500 on my best bets for the first time in a few weeks.

Thankfully, we have some wiggle room thanks to my previous MLB predictions. We’ll break down the MLB odds for eight games in action on Thursday. Hopefully, my free MLB picks will get back on track.

Let’s start my MLB predictions with the odds for the eight matchups on the board.

MLB Odds for Thursday, June 9th

  • Diamondbacks (+125) vs. Reds (-135), O/U 9.5
  • Cardinals (+143) vs. Rays (-153), O/U 7
  • Phillies (+149) vs. Brewers (-162), O/U 7.5
  • Dodgers (-117) vs. White Sox (+107), O/U 8.5
  • Nationals (+114) vs. Marlins (-124), O/U 8
  • Pirates (+233) vs. Braves (-260), O/U 8
  • Yankees (-191) vs. Twins (+175), O/U 8
  • Orioles (-105) vs. Royals (-105), O/U 9.5

The MLB betting odds feature a split of series wrapping up with others starting. The Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Atlanta Braves and Baltimore Orioles vs. Kansas City Royals will begin a new series.

Baltimore vs. Kansas City will feature a stark difference with their record against the spread. Baltimore has the third-best record at 34-23, while Kansas City has the worst at 20-34. The MLB odds have that matchup as a coin flip.

The Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Cincinnati Reds and Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Chicago White Sox will also feature a team top 10 against a spread vs. a team with a bottom 10 record. Will the MLB expert picks side with the Reds or White Sox?

It’s interesting to see the Diamondbacks vs. Reds and Orioles vs. Royals open with the highest run totals. Cincinnati and Kansas City are among the league leaders at going over their run total, but Arizona and Baltimore are bottom 10. Will the MLB picks favor one side?

The MLB picks today don’t feature a matchup with teams that rank top 10 or bottom 10 with the run total. Perhaps the MLB baseball free picks will see some unpredictable results.

We’ll have a few intriguing matchups, as the odds have four matchups with the favorite at (-135) or lower. Please visit BetOnline to make your MLB betting picks.

Top MLB Predictions for June 9th

  • Diamondbacks Over Reds
  • Rays Over Cardinals
  • Brewers Over Phillies
  • Dodgers Over White Sox
  • Nationals Over Marlins
  • Braves Over Pirates
  • Yankees Over Twins
  • Orioles Over Royals

My MLB free picks begin with the Arizona Diamondbacks scoring a victory. This was a tough matchup to predict, but I like the value for the Diamondbacks. Not to mention, they have a better record.

We’ll see a great pitching matchup with the Tampa Bay Rays vs. St. Louis Cardinals. Rays starter Shane McClanahan has my MLB expert picks backing the Rays.

Last year’s NL Cy Young winner Corbin Burnes will take the mound for the Milwaukee Brewers. The Philadelphia Phillies have looked better lately, but it’s hard to pick against Burnes and the Brewers.

How often will the best MLB sportsbooks have the Los Angeles Dodgers as a (-117) favorite? My free MLB picks can’t pass up that price.

Stephen Strasburg will make his first MLB start since June 1, 2021. Check out his numbers in five appearances last season.

  • 4.57 ERA
  • 1.39 WHIP
  • 14 Walks
  • 21 Strikeouts

I expect a better performance as he leads the Washington Nationals to the victory. There isn’t much to discuss with the Atlanta Braves. They don’t present much value, but my MLB picks today don’t see a reason to pick the Pittsburgh Pirates.

I can’t imagine my MLB picks going against the New York Yankees. They hold the best record in the majors and are riding a seven-game win streak. Do you need another reason to back the Yankees?

The Baltimore Orioles have looked better lately, going 5-5 in their last ten games. Starting pitcher Bruce Zimmerman has struggled recently, but the Orioles’ offense gives them the upper hand over the Royals.

Best Bets for MLB Games on 6/9/22

  • Dodgers to Win (-117)
  • Cardinals vs. Rays Under 7 Runs (-110)
  • Yankees vs. Twins Over 8 Runs (-120)

My MLB free picks today conclude with my best bets. Can we bounce back after a disappointing performance on Tuesday?

It’s still surprising to see the Los Angeles Dodgers open as a slight favorite. The Chicago White Sox have looked better lately, but can they compete with the Dodgers? The pitching matchup suggests otherwise.

Tyler Anderson (Dodgers) Dylan Cease (White Sox)
ERA 2.59 3.39
WHIP 0.95 1.29
Walks 6 30
Strikeouts 53 81

Anderson is 7-0 and hasn’t allowed a run in three consecutive starts. He has allowed two or fewer runs in nine of his ten starts. We can’t forget the latest 2022 NL MVP odds have Mookie Betts as the favorite.

The St. Louis Cardinals vs. Tampa Bay Rays features two great pitchers. Rays starter Shane McClanahan is a Cy Young contender, holding a 2.10 ERA and 0.96 WHIP. He also leads the league with 89 strikeouts.

Miles Mikolas has also been strong, holding a 3.02 ERA and 1.14 WHIP. Both teams have a solid offense, but the pitchers should hold this to a 4-3 game.

It doesn’t seem wise to bet against the New York Yankees offense. A matchup with Minnesota Twins starter Dylan Bundy will help them go over the run total.

  • 5.57 ERA
  • 1.45 WHIP
  • 9 Walks
  • 36 Strikeouts

Bundy had a great start, but he has an 8.44 ERA in his last six starts. He has allowed 4+ runs in four of his last six starts. And he hasn’t played an offense as good as the Yankees. Minnesota will face Gerrit Cole, but they should put a few runs on the board.
