Picks and Predictions for MLB Games – June 2nd, 2022

| June 1, 2022 2:17 pm PDT

There must be something about my Tuesday MLB picks because we earned a big profit for the second straight week. Last week, we went 10-2 on Tuesday, and we followed that up with an 8-2 mark for my predictions.

My best bets streak ended with the Chicago White Sox vs. Toronto Blue Jays going over their run total. Nonetheless, we’ve gone over $100 in profits for my best bets in the 2022 season.

We’re riding a wave of momentum heading into Thursday’s MLB action. Let’s check out the odds for the nine games on Thursday.

MLB Odds for Thursday, June 2nd

  • Twins (-125) vs. Tigers (+115), O/U 8.5
  • Rays (-125) vs. Rangers (+115), O/U 8.5
  • White Sox (+169) vs. Blue Jays (-184), O/U 8.5
  • Nationals (+110) vs. Reds (-120), O/U 9
  • Mariners (-120) vs. Orioles (+110), O/U 9
  • Angels (+110) vs. Yankees (-120), O/U 7.5
  • Padres (+110) vs. Brewers (-120), O/U 8.5
  • Cardinals (-105) vs. Cubs (-105)
  • Braves (-135) vs. Rockies (+125), O/U 11

Thursday’s MLB action begins with a trio of day games. The first matchup of the day features a noticeable betting trend. The Minnesota Twins and Detroit Tigers are bottom five against the spread.

The Texas Rangers have the best record against the spread, but the Tampa Bay Rays are in the bottom half with a 23-26 record. Can the Rangers score the victory as the underdog?

There are two matchups featuring teams that are top 10 against the spread. The Seattle Mariners and Baltimore Orioles rank top five in the AL against the spread. Baltimore is fifth in the majors with a 29-22 record.

Check out the record against the spread for the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs.

  • St. Louis Cardinals: 27-22 (6th)
  • Chicago Cubs: 27-22 (7th)

As we shift our focus to the run total, two matchups feature teams that rank top 10 in going over their run total. The Cardinals vs. Cubs is one, but they rank ninth and 10th. The big one is the Atlanta Braves vs. Colorado Rockies.

Atlanta leads the MLB, going over their run total in 59.6 percent of their games. Colorado isn’t far behind with a 55.3 percent mark. The Chicago White Sox and Toronto Blue Jays are bottom ten with the run total.

Top MLB Predictions for June 2nd

  • Tigers Over Twins
  • Rays Over Rangers
  • Blue Jays Over White Sox
  • Reds Over Nationals
  • Yankees Over Angels
  • Orioles Over Mariners
  • Padres Over Brewers
  • Cubs Over Cardinals
  • Braves Over Rockies

The Detroit Tigers have struggled while the Minnesota Twins lead the AL Central. Tigers starter Alex Faedo has allowed two or fewer runs in all five starts of 2022. That gives the Tigers the advantage.

We’ve seen the Texas Rangers be more competitive lately, but starting pitcher Taylor Hearn has a 5.36 ERA. That won’t go over well against the Tampa Bay Rays.

The Toronto Blue Jays are the hottest team in baseball. They’re on a six-game win streak, facing a Chicago White Sox team without Tim Anderson. Anderson’s groin injury puts a damper on Chicago’s season.

There’s not much to like about the Cincinnati Reds and Washington Nationals. The pitching matchup has me leaning towards Cincinnati.

Shohei Ohtani will be on the mound for the Los Angeles Angels, but Jameson Taillon has produced better numbers.

  • 5-1
  • 2.49 ERA
  • 1.01 WHIP
  • 5 Walks
  • 39 Strikeouts

We should see a competitive matchup between the Baltimore Orioles and Seattle Mariners. Honestly, I’m taking Baltimore because they present more value.

I’m taking the San Diego Padres over the Milwaukee Brewers because of the offensive battle. San Diego’s offense should lead them to a victory over the NL Central leader.

The top MLB betting sites give the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs the same odds. Cubs starter Keegan Thompson is 5-0 with a 1.58 ERA. He has what it takes to limit the Cardinals’ offense.

The Atlanta Braves haven’t played up to expectations, but they should knock off the Colorado Rockies. It’ll be interesting to see if this game hits the run total.

Best Bets for MLB Games on 6/2/22

  • Yankees to Win (-120)
  • Reds to Win (-120)
  • Padres vs. Brewers Under 8.5 Runs (+100)

There will be no shortage of stars when the New York Yankees host the Los Angeles Angels. The latest 2022 AL MVP odds have Shohei Ohtani, Aaron Judge, and Mike Trout as the top contenders.

I talked about the success of Jameson Taillon this season. His numbers are slightly better than Ohtani’s. The Angels have the better offense, but a six-game losing streak has them scrambling. Meanwhile, the New York Yankees have the best record in baseball. That should continue against the Angels.

The Cincinnati Reds had a dreadful 3-22 start to the season. However, they’ve looked much better lately, going 14-9 following that start. The Washington Nationals haven’t found their footing in 2022.

Nationals starter Joan Adon is why I’m taking the Reds to win.

  • 1-8
  • 6.08 ERA
  • 1.67 WHIP
  • 29 Walks
  • 38 Strikeouts

Reds starter Graham Ashcraft has looked good in two starts. He allowed two runs in 10.2 innings. He shouldn’t have an issue shutting down the Nationals’ offense.

It was tough to find much value with the run total for Thursday’s MLB action. The Milwaukee Brewers have a top 10 offense, and we know the San Diego Padres have many weapons in their offense. I’m taking the under because of the pitching matchup.

Padres starter Sean Manaea has a 4.02 ERA, but his 1.11 WHIP shows the ERA is misleading. Brewers starter Adrian Houser has an ERA under 3.70. Both teams have a strong bullpen that should hold these offenses in check.
