Minnesota Vikings vs. Seattle Seahawks – NFL, October 11, 2020
For the third straight season, the Minnesota Vikings and Seattle Seahawks will face off against each other. These two NFC foes will meet in Week 5 Sunday Night Football at CenturyLink Field in Seattle on October 11, 2020.
While the Seahawks went undefeated through the first four weeks, the Vikings earned just one win along with three losses, so the visitors are already in a tough situation. That promises some great battle in Seattle this Sunday, so here’s my best Vikings vs. Seahawks betting pick for Week 5.
Vikings vs. Seahawks Odds
|Vikings to Win||+270|
|Seahawks to Win||-325|
The Seahawks opened as firm -325 favorites to win straight up. Their offense has been spectacular thus far, and the bookies think the Seahawks will outlast the Vikings whose defense has been poor over the last few weeks.
Therefore, the totals are set pretty high, as bookmakers are looking for a proper firecracker at CenturyLink Field.
Minnesota Vikings Analysis
The Vikings are coming off their first win in 2020, beating another winless team, the Houston Texans, 31-23 on the road in Week 4. Once again, the Vikings played some poor defense, but they were still way better than the Texans.
Dalvin Cook led the way with 27 carries for 130 yards and two touchdowns. Kirk Cousins went 16-for-22 for 260 yards and a TD, while Adam Thielen had eight catches for 114 yards and a TD.
The Vikings are now 17th in the league in points scored per game (26.5) and 22nd in total yards per contest (357.8). However, they are yielding 31.3 points per game (26th in the NFL) on 426.5 total yards (29th).
Seattle Seahawks Analysis
As well as the Vikings, the Seahawks have some serious defensive issues, but they are 4-0 straight up and ATS on the season simply because their offense has been unstoppable.
Seattle is tallying 35.5 points per game (2nd) on 416.3 total yards (5th). Russell Wilson has tossed for 1285 yards, 16 touchdowns, and a couple of picks while completing 75.2% of his passing attempts.
That’s some crazy numbers for a six-time All-Pro, and Wilson can rely on a bunch of top-notch playmakers. Chris Carson recorded 350 yards from scrimmage and five touchdowns; D.K. Metcalf added 16 receptions for 403 yards and three touchdowns, while Tyler Lockett tallied 26 catches for 298 yards and four scores.
Still, the Seahawks are yielding 27.3 points per game (20th) on a whopping 476.8 total yards (32nd). They are allowing incredible 401.0 passing yards per contest. Last weekend, they beat Miami 31-23 as 4.5-point road favorites, but the Dolphins racked up 415 total yards, keeping it close for most of the game.
Vikings vs. Seahawks Pick
Russell Wilson will destroy the Vikings’ secondary, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Kirk Cousins does the same with the Seahawks’ fragile defense. Furthermore, both teams can run efficiently, especially the Vikings, so I expect to see a bunch of points in this clash.
Seattle is 6-0 SU and 5-1 ATS in its last six encounters with Minnesota, and the over is 4-2 in that span. Last year, the Seahawks outlasted the Vikings 37-30 as 3-point home favorites with a total of 48.5 points.
This time, the line is set much higher, but we should see more of the same with two terrible defensive units on the field.
Over 54.5 points-175
