Minnesota Vikings vs. Green Bay Packers Betting – NFL Week 8, 2020

The Minnesota Vikings head to Lambeau Field in Week 8 of the 2020 NFL season to take on their division foes Green Bay Packers for the second time this season.

Back in the opening week, the Packers thrashed off the Vikings 43-34 as 1.5-point road dogs in Minneapolis. It was their third straight win over Minnesota, and the Packers are 3-0 against the spread in their previous three encounters with the Vikings as well.

The Packers are 5-1 on the season. They easily won both home contests in 2020, so it’s no strange the Packers are listed as 6.5-point favorites against the 1-5 Vikings.

Minnesota is a huge disappointment. The Vikings were considered as legitimate playoff contenders, but their displays have been mostly terrible thus far.

Minnesota is coming off a bye, trying to snap a two-game skid. After a nice 31-23 road victory over Houston in Week 4, the Vikings suffered a 27-26 defeat at Seattle and a heavy 40-23 loss to Atlanta.

The Vikings are yielding a whopping 32.0 points per contest (30^th in the NFL) on 413.7 total yards (28^th). Their defense has been struggling since that tough loss to the Packers in the opener, while the Vikings’ offense has some serious flaws, too.

In a 40-23 home loss to the Falcons, Kirk Cousins threw for 343 yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions. Captain Kirk leads the NFL with 10 interceptions while posting a horrible 48.1 quarterback rating.

Dalvin Cook continues to struggle with injuries. The Vikings’ star running back missed the previous clash but should be good to go against the Packers. Cook has 92 carries for 489 yards and seven touchdowns.

The Packers are coming off an impressive 35-20 road victory at the Houston Texans this past Sunday. They stormed the front and scored three touchdowns on their first five possessions.

Aaron Rodgers led the way for Green Bay with 283 yards and four TD passes. Davante Adams had 13 catches for 196 yards and a couple of scores, while Jamaal Williams added 19 totes for 77 yards and one score.

The Packers bounced back from a heavy 38-10 defeat at Tampa Bay in Week 6. They are scoring 32.8 points per game (2^nd) on 393.7 total yards (8^th) while surrendering 26.5 points in a return (19^th) on 350.3 total yards (11^th).

Aaron Rodgers has been unstoppable in each but one game this season. He tortured the Vikings in Week 1 and I expect to see more of the same at Lambeau Field in Week 8.

The Vikings’ defense is one of the worst in football this term, especially their secondary. I don’t see how the Vikings will slow down the Packers’ passing offense, and with Kirk Cousins under center, I don’t think their offense can keep pace with Green Bay.

Dalvin Cook’s eventual return would help the Vikings on the ground, but the Packers will get Aaron Jones after their star RB missed Week 7 victory over the Texans.

Green Bay is a better team on both sides of the ball, and I expect the Packers to prove it on the field. Take the hosts to cover a 2.5-point spread if you’re satisfied with -220 odds. It’s a solid pick for a parlay, too.
