Colorado’s first game in over a month ended in disappoint as Sporting Kansas City romped to a 4-0 victory on Saturday. The Rapids are playing catchup after missing multiple games due to the ongoing health situation, and they face another tough test this week.

Robin Fraser’s men travel to Allianz Field on Wednesday, October 28, to face a Minnesota United side that has only lost one of their previous seven outings. Fifth-place Minnesota sits eight points ahead of second-bottom Colorado in the Western Conference, although the Rapids have four games in hand.

Given that Colorado (3.35) only returned to action on Saturday and suffered a heavy defeat, I’m seriously shocked by the high price for the Minnesota victory (2.00) here.

Yes, Adrian Heath’s side is the favorite to win on Wednesday, but I expected the odds gap to be a lot bigger for this matchup.

It looked as though Minnesota was heading for their fourth draw in five games on Saturday. The Loons had already been held by Real Salt Lake, Nashville SC, and Houston Dynamo in recent weeks, and FC Cincinnati was on the verge of becoming the latest team to frustrate them.

However, Aaron Schoenfeld picked the perfect moment to score his first goal of the season. The forward has been in and out of Heath’s side throughout 2020, but he popped up with a stoppage-time strike to earn Minnesota a precious point.

The Saint Paul outfit has picked up plenty of draws lately, but three ties have helped the club to string together an eye-catching five-game unbeaten run. Minnesota now sits five points inside the top eight, and a play-off spot would almost be guaranteed with victory on Wednesday.

It’s difficult to gauge how Colorado will fare this week. Fraser’s men were clearly rusty against Sporting KC last time out, although nobody expected them to be firing on cylinders following a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Having said that, the Rapids must get up to speed quickly. With testing games against Seattle Sounders and Portland Timbers on the horizon, the Commerce City club can’t afford to drop points against Minnesota.

If Colorado is to challenge the Loons, veteran striker Kai Kamara needs to rediscover his best goalscoring form. Youngsters Cole Bassett and Jonathan Lewis have caught the eye this year, but Kamara’s experience could be vital to the Rapids’ chances of reaching the play-offs.

I recommend taking advantage of the sky-high price for the Minnesota win before the bookies change their mind! In my eyes, this seems like an ideal opportunity to double your money.

Minnesota has been drawing a lot recently, so that is probably why the odds are so attractive here. Still, Colorado was completely outclassed by SKC last weekend, so I’m expecting the Loons to seal back-to-back victories on Wednesday.
