Minnesota United vs. Chicago Fire – MLS, November 4, 2020

| November 2, 2020 9:21 am PDT

Minnesota United will be looking to extend their six-game unbeaten streak when Chicago Fire visits Allianz Field on Wednesday, November 4.

The Loons sit eight points clear of the Chicago in the overall standings, although the Fire has only lost one of their previous five outings.

If you’re interested in wagering on this MLS cross-conference clash, I recommend checking out this Minnesota United vs. Chicago Fire prediction which comes with my betting pick.

Minnesota United vs. Chicago Fire Odds

Minnesota United to Win 2.05
The Draw 3.30
Chicago Fire to Win 3.60

10bet has named Minnesota United (2.05) as the favorite to win this matchup, although the high odds for the home victory suggest that Chicago Fire (3.60) will give the Loons a run for their money on Wednesday.

Let’s take a closer look at both sides.

Minnesota United vs. Chicago Fire Preview

A run of three wins and three draws has seen Minnesota clinch a spot in the playoffs. In fairness, Adrian Heath’s men have always looked likely to secure their place in the next phase of the competition, and last week’s 2-1 victory over Colorado Rapids confirmed the inevitable.

The Supporters’ Shield may be out of reach for the Loons, but they have arguably been one of the most consistent teams in MLS this year. Only two sides in the Western Conference have a better defensive record than Minnesota, although scoring goals has not always been easy.

Robin Lod is Minnesota’s top scorer this season, and the Finland international netted in the win over Colorado last week. However, if Heath’s men are serious about challenging for the MLS Cup this year, Lod’s team-mates must start chipping in with more goals.

By contrast, scoring goals hasn’t been an issue for Chicago this term. Robert Beric has bagged eight in his last 11 appearances to keep his side in contention for a playoff place, while winger Fabian Herbes has also remained a threat throughout the campaign.

But at the other end of the pitch, the Fire has struggled to keep the ball out of their own net. Indeed, only four sides in the Eastern Conference have conceded more goals than Chicago in 2020, including all of the bottom three teams in the division.

Raphael Wicky’s men have managed to pick up some decent results of late. Granted, there have been a lot of draws in recent weeks. But avoiding defeat at this stage of the season is important.

If the Fire can avoid defeat against Minnesota on Wednesday, the Illinois club could find themselves securing a qualification berth for the playoffs.

Minnesota United vs. Chicago Fire Betting Pick

  • Minnesota United to Win

In my opinion, this feels like a great opportunity to double your money. Chicago has proven to be a tough opponent lately, but there is no denying that Minnesota should win this one.

The Loons seems to have established a rhythm in recent weeks, and it is going to be very difficult for the Fire to put an end to their unbeaten run. Ultimately, I belive the home win is the way to go here.
