The Minnesota Twins and Chicago White Sox continue their battle for the AL Central title, but they are not alone with the Cleveland Indians also in the mix.

Before they took the field Sunday, the 29-18 Twins sat at the second spot of the table, just 2.5 games ahead of the Indians and one game behind the 29-16 ChiSox.

The Twins and White Sox will open a four-game series at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago on Monday night with the first pitch at 8:10 PM ET.

In the next few days, we’ll see some great games in Chicago, so here’s my best Twins vs. White Sox betting pick for the opener Monday.

Twins vs. White Sox Odds

Twins -1.5 +165
White Sox +1.5 -185
Twins to Win -115
White Sox to Win +105
Over 9.0 -115
Under 9.0 -105

This should be a very tight contest between two very talented teams, and the Twins are slight favorites mostly because they have more experience than the White Sox. Also, the Twins should have a slight advantage on the mound considering starting pitchers, but both bullpens have done a good job thus far.

Twins vs. White Sox Preview

I’ve mentioned a few times that Minnesota’s offense is a big disappointment. The Twins are below league average, tallying just 4.57 runs per game (18th in the majors). Their batting average of .246 is 15th-best in the league, while the Twins are 14th in slugging percentage (.426).

On the other side, the White Sox have the fifth-highest scoring offense in baseball, averaging 5.51 runs per game. They have the second-best batting average (.273) and the third-best slugging percentage (.475).

Jose Berrios will take the mound for the Twins in this one, tallying his 10th start of the season. The two-time All-Star is 4-3 with a 4.40 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, and 55/22 K/BB ratio, and he’ll be looking for his third straight win Monday in Chicago.

Berrios has allowed four earned runs on seven hits and four walks over his previous two starts and 11 innings of work, but he’s also fanned 16 in that span. The righty will meet the ChiSox for the third time in 2020, and he’s 1-0 with a 5.40 ERA in the previous two starts against Chicago.

Jose has dominated the White Sox through his career, posting a 12-2 record with a 2.69 ERA in 16 starts.

Dylan Cease will get his 10th start of the season for the White Sox, and the righty is 5-2 with a 3.33 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and 30/20 K/BB ratio. Cease will get the Twins for the first time in 2020. He lost both his starts against Minnesota in 2019, posting a terrible 16.71 ERA across seven innings.

Twins vs. White Sox Betting Pick

The White Sox had just three hits against Berrios on September 2, but they tortured Jose for five earned runs on seven hits on Opening Day. Hereof, I expect to see a solid performance by Chicago’s bats, while Dylan Cease will have a tough day against the Twins’ offense.

The Twins have won four of their six encounters with the White Sox this season, and four of those six contests produced 13 or more runs in the total. Therefore, I’m backing the over.
