Milwaukee Bucks vs. Orlando Magic Pick – NBA, August 22, 2020

| August 21, 2020 11:57 pm PDT

The Milwaukee Bucks surprised us unpleasantly with a loss in Game 1 of the NBA playoffs against the Orlando Magic, but Mike Budenholzer’s side responded with a comfortable 111-96 win in Game 2. The shorthanded Magic can be satisfied with their participation in the postseason thus far and will be looking to upset the favored Bucks once again on Saturday. The Game 3 tip-off is set at 1 PM ET.

These conference rivals have met six times this season, including two playoff duels, and Milwaukee won five of those encounters. Take a look at my Bucks vs. Magic betting prediction for Game 3.

Odds for Bucks vs. Magic

For the third time in this series, the sportsbooks are giving a massive favorite tag to the Bucks. The spread remains the same, -12 on Milwaukee, which is also the case with points total; 226. The Bucks did cover the spread in Game 2, but the tilt went Under.

Bucks Analysis

The Bucks took the Magic lightly in the opening game of the series, but after suffering a big loss, Mike Budenholzer prepared his team much better for Game 2. Milwaukee controlled the game since the start and had a 23-point lead at one moment in the second quarter. The Bucks kept the Magic to just 34.8% from the field and scored 15 threes opposite Orlando’s seven. Even though they committed nine turnovers more than the Magic, the Bucks dominated the boards (54-42) and assists (26-18).

Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Bucks with a double-double of 28 points and game-high 20 rebounds, along with five assists. Brook Lopez scored 20, Pat Connaughton posted a double-double of 15 points and 11 boards off the bench, while Eric Bledsoe added 13 points and game-high seven dishes. Khris Middleton displayed another poor performance as he finished the tilt with miserable two points (1-8 from the floor).

Magic Analysis

Steve Clifford couldn’t surprise Mike Budenholzer again after Game 1 and his players weren’t able to cope with the Greek Freak and co. The Magic struggled for most of the game and were inferior in almost every segment, except in steals and free-throw percentage.

Nikola Vucevic led the Magic with a double-double of 32 points and team-high ten rebounds. Terrence Ross and Evan Fournier scored 12 points apiece, Markelle Fultz added 11, while D.J. Augustin had ten points.

Prediction and Pick

With Aaron Gordon and Michael Carter-Williams, who are still unavailable to play, I don’t think the Magic have much of a chance here. Although they proved they can play without the duo, the reality is the Magic don’t have a great squad depth right now, and that is a big problem. One win seems to be Orlando’s maximum in this series, and I think they will lose the remaining three games.

The Bucks should be good enough to secure a 15+ point win, and I am backing them to make it happen.

Pick
