Midtjylland vs. Liverpool Betting Preview – Champions League, December 9, 2020
With four wins from five Champions League games this season, Liverpool has already secured top spot in Group D. The Reds travel to Midtjylland on Wednesday, December 9, with the Danish side guaranteed to finish bottom of the group.
An understrength Liverpool team edged Midtjylland 2-0 in the reverse fixture at Anfield. Jurgen Klopp is expected to field another weakened starting XI in Demark.

Midtjylland vs. Liverpool Odds
Under normal circumstances, the odds gap for this matchup would be a lot bigger. But given that Liverpool (2.05) has already sealed first place in Group B, Klopp is likely to rest a number of his key players on Wednesday, with a busy festive schedule on the horizon.
Midtjylland (3.25) is still the outsider here, but the top online sportsbooks clearly believe that the Wolves stand a chance of getting something from this game.
Midtjylland vs. Liverpool Analysis
The Wolves picked up the first-ever Champions League point last week, impressively holding Atalanta to a 1-1 draw in Italy. However, four straight defeats prior to Matchday 5 had already ended Midtjylland’s hopes of progressing any further in the competition.
In fairness, Brian Priske’s men have given a decent account of themselves in their maiden UCL campaign. They made Liverpool work for the win on Matchday 2, before giving Ajax two competitive matches. Last week’s draw against Atalanta was also fully deserved.
After scoring in Italy, Alexander Scholz netted for the second game running on Saturday. Midtjylland beat Vejle BK 2-0 last time out, extending their lead at the top of the Danish Superliga.
The Wolves have made a strong start to their title defense back home. Priske will now be hoping that his team can carry their domestic domination onto the European stage and compete in the Champions League in the coming years.

BRILLIANT, REDS! ??
It is no secret that the Reds have been blighted by injuries this term. However, you couldn’t tell that they were missing their first-choice center-back paring last time out. Liverpool crushed Wolves 4-0 on Sunday, keeping pace with EPL frontrunners Spurs in the process.
Despite their well-documented injury problems, Jurgen Klopp’s men have only lost one of their 11 Premier League matches this term. They have also lost just one Champions League game in 2020/11, so they must be given credit for their recent efforts.
The Merseysiders thrashed Atalanta 5-0 on Matchday 3, although the Italian side got their revenge three weeks later. Still, a youthful Liverpool team beat Ajax last week to seal top spot in the group, with youngsters Caoimhin Kelleher and Curtis Jones playing starring roles.
Goalkeeper Kelleher is expected to deputize for the injured Alisson again on Wednesday, while a host of other rising stars could feature in Klopp’s starting XI. But even if the Reds are not at full strength, they will still be expected to beat Midtjylland.
Midtjylland vs. Liverpool Pick
Liverpool to Win2.05
It’s not often that the price for the Liverpool win is as high as 2.05, so it only makes sense to take advantage of the unusually big odds and back the Reds on Wednesday.
Klopp will almost certainly leave a number of his star performers out of the team, but Liverpool’s strength in depth means that even their second-string team should be able to beat Midtjylland.
