Miami Heat vs. Milwaukee Bucks Pick – NBA, August 31, 2020
The Miami Heat didn’t have problems with the Indiana Pacers in Round 1 of the NBA playoffs and swept them thanks to four excellent displays. However, Erik Spoelstra’s job will be much harder against the regular season champions Milwaukee Bucks, one of the most serious candidates for the championship this season. The Bucks defeated the Orlando Magic in five games, and are favorites to open this series with a win. The Game 1 tip-off is set at 6:30 PM ET.
These conference rivals have met three times this season, and the Heat are leading the series 2-1, but the Bucks won the most recent clash here in the Orlando bubble. Check out my Heat vs Bucks betting prediction.
Odds for Heat vs. Bucks
|Heat to win||+204|
|Bucks to win||-238|
The Milwaukee Bucks are the favorites here, and although they are not heavily favored like it was the case in the series against the Magic, Mike Budenholzer’s side is -5.5 fave in this one. The total is set at 223, and given that two of three H2H meetings wen Over this season, another Over is an option on Monday. Perhaps easier than expected, the Miami Heat swept the Indiana Pacers, and displayed an impressive defense along the way, allowing Indiana to score 110+ points only once in the series. The Heat beat the Pacers 99-87 to clinch the series. Erik Spoelstra’s side dominated the rebounds (60-34) and had 24 assists opposite Indiana’s 20, and not even six triples more by the Pacers didn’t help them to avoid a loss.
We've gone head-to-head with the Bucks 3 times this season. Take a look back at how each of those games went down https://t.co/pPdvzvGyVJ— Miami HEAT (@MiamiHEAT) August 29, 2020
Goran Dragic led the Heat with 23 points and five rebounds. Tyler Herro added 16 points, five boards, and four assists, Bam Adebayo posted a double-double of 14 points and game-high 19 rebounds, along with team-high six dimes, while Kelly Olynyk had 11 points and eight boards.
The Bucks surprisingly lost the opening game of the Round 1 series with the Orlando Magic but switched to a higher gear since and won the next four games with ease. In the latest 118-104 victory, Milwaukee limited Orlando to below 40% from the floor and won the rebounding battle (56-47) and was better in assists (27-22).
Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Bucks with a double-double of 28 points and game-high 17 rebounds. Khris Middleton also recorded a double-double of 21 points and ten boards, along with seven assists, Brook Lopez contributed with 16 points and seven rebounds, while Marvin Williams had 12 points and seven boards.
Prediction and Pick
Miami proved out to be the strongest defensive side after the opening round of the NBA playoffs, but it’s going to be hard to keep the Milwaukee Bucks to under 110 points like they managed to do to Indiana. Milwaukee scored even 130 points in the latest H2H encounter, and even though I don’t think the Heat will allow that much, I expect to see 110+ points from both teams here. That’s why I am going with Over.
