The Los Angeles Lakers didn’t have a lot of trouble with the Miami Heat in the opening game of the NBA Finals and secured a comfortable 116-98 victory. Injuries to the key Miami’s players helped the Lakers in that encounter as it seemed that the luck turned its back to Erik Spoelstra’s side. The Game 2 tip-off is set at 9 PM ET.

These inter-conference foes have faced three times this season, and the Lakers won all three duels. Check out my Heat vs. Lakers betting prediction for Game 2.

Heat vs. Lakers Odds

Heat +9.5 -110
Lakers -9.5 -110
Heat to win +400
Lakers to win -455
Over 216.5 -110
Under 216.5 -110

After justifying the role of a favorite in Game 1, the bookmakers are giving the Lakers even a bigger favorite tag in this clash. The reason for that is not only Los Angeles’ big win two nights ago, but also injuries to Goran Dragic and Bam Adebayo, as the Heat will be seriously weakened on Friday. The spread on the Lakers is -9.5 now, while the total is set at 216.5, which is a bit lower than 217.5 from the previous game.

Heat Analysis

Miami played well in the opening 12 minutes, but the Heat’s defense disappointed in the second quarter when they allowed 34 points and scored only 20 in return. They continued to play poorly in the third quarter, and although the Heat responded in the final 12 minutes, that wasn’t enough to avoid a big defeat. The Eastern Conference champions trailed in every segment and deservedly lost. However, with injuries to their top scorer in the playoffs, Goran Dragic, who hurt his foot, and Bam Adebayo, who injured his shoulder – that is understandable.

Jimmy Butler led the Heat with 23 points, five assists, and two steals. Kendrick Nunn added 18 points and team-high five rebounds, Tyler Herro had 14 points and four boards, while Jae Crowder scored 12 points.

Lakers Analysis

Los Angeles took the first lead late in the opening quarter, and except for one moment midway through the second quarter, they didn’t let it go. The Lakers even had a 32-point lead in the second half and have dominated in every segment of a basketball game. They destroyed the Heat below the rim with 54 rebounds opposite Miami’s 36, while Frank Vogel’s team was also better on defense with three blocks more than Miami (8-5) and three more steals (7-4).

Anthony Davis led the Lakers with 34 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and game-high three blocks. LeBron James nearly recorded a triple-double as he finished the game with 25 points, game-high 13 boards, and game-high nine dishes. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Danny Green, and Alex Caruso all contributed with double digits and combined for 34 points.

Prediction and Pick

With both Dragic and Adebayo highly doubtful for Game 2, I don’t think the Heat stand a chance on Friday. Jimmy Butler, Jae Crowder, and Andre Iguodala will have a lot of problems putting up a fight along with young teammates, and there is a little chance they can even cover the +9.5 spread, let alone tie the series.

Without Adebayo in the paint for the Heat, Davis and James will score a lot of easy buckets, and I am backing them to get 50+ points from the interior. Expect the Lakers to push it through the middle and attack the rim. Miami will try to keep it up with shooting from beyond the arc, but I don’t think they will have much success. I am backing the Lakers to secure a comfortable victory.
