Prediction for Mets vs. Dodgers – Saturday, June 4th, 2022

| June 3, 2022 2:20 pm PDT

The top two teams in the NL will battle on Saturday night as the New York Mets face the Los Angeles Dodgers. Both teams had high aspirations ahead of the 2022 season, and they’ve lived up to the hype.

Thursday night’s game featured a pitcher’s duel, with the Dodgers earning a 2-0 victory. Los Angeles’ 34-17 record is slightly better than New York’s 35-18. It’s early in the season, but we could be looking at an NLCS preview.

Who will win Saturday night’s battle? Here is an early look at the odds.

Mets vs. Dodgers Odds for June 4th

Bovada (+148) (-180) 50% up to $250 Visit Bovada
BetOnline (+161) (-175) 60% up to $1,000 Visit BetOnline

The Los Angeles Dodgers open as the favorite in Saturday’s battle of NL teams. Keep an eye on the MLB sportsbooks for the updated odds.

We know the Dodgers and New York Mets have the best records in the NL. Well, their record against the spread places them top five in the majors. New York has covered in 60.4 percent of their games, while Los Angeles has done it in 58.8 percent of their games.

Bovada has the run total at 8.5, with BetOnline at 8 runs. Bovada favors the under, while BetOnline favors the over.

The Mets are top 10 at going over their run total, but the Dodgers have gone under their run total in 53.1 percent of their games. There is indecision from the sportsbooks.

Unfortunately, the injuries continue to pile up for both teams. Francisco Lindor had a finger injury after jamming his hand in a hotel room door. Lindor missed Thursday’s game, but he should be good for Saturday.

Mets vs. Dodgers Analysis

The Los Angeles Dodgers have led the NL for much of the 2022 season, but a three-game sweep at the hands of the Pittsburgh Pirates brought the New York Mets to the top. New York recently had a six-game win streak.

It’s hard to spotlight one player from each team because they’ve had multiple players playing at a high level.

Francisco Lindor was hitting .229 on May 13, but we’ve seen him play at an MVP level in the last three weeks.

  • .324 batting average
  • 3 home runs
  • 24 RBIs
  • 19 runs

Lindor missed Thursday’s game, but his return will give the Mets a big boost.

Most baseball fans know Mookie Betts is the leading contender in the NL MVP race. Betts had a rough start, hitting .190 through 16 games. That seems like ages ago because Betts is on pace to match his 2018 MVP numbers.

In his last 33 games, Betts is hitting .366 with 14 home runs, 31 RBIs, and 35 runs. The MLB splits the MVP award between the AL and NL, but I feel comfortable saying Betts has been the best player in baseball in 2022.

Offenses have been the storyline for both teams, but their pitching staff is among the best majors. Check out the pitching matchup for Saturday night.

David Peterson (Mets) Walker Buehler (Dodgers)
ERA 3.03 3.22
WHIP 1.18 1.24
Walks 13 15
Strikeouts 23 49

It’s hard to criticize a pitcher with a 3.22 ERA, but we haven’t seen Walker Buehler dominate like in past seasons. He has allowed at least two runs in four straight starts. David Peterson had a great start, but he has a 5.17 ERA in his last three starts.

Can Buehler and Peterson turn things around, or will we see a high-scoring matchup?

Mets vs. Dodgers Same Game Parlay

  • Chris Taylor to Record a Hit (-170)
  • Pete Alonso to Record an RBI (+120)
  • Mookie Betts to Record 2+ Total Bases (-105)

My same game parlay for the New York Mets vs. Los Angeles Dodgers features (+622) odds. Feel free to check out our same game parlay betting tips.

Chris Taylor’s 2022 season has been a roller coaster. He had a great start but struggled for much of May. He hit .240 through May 22, but he has reclaimed his early-season success in the last 15 games.

Taylor’s hitting .349 with three home runs and seven RBIs in his last 15 games. He’s 3-7 with a home run in this series. Taylor is riding a seven-game hit streak against the Mets. Can he keep it going?

Pete Alonso ended an 0-10 stretch with a home run in Friday night’s game. Alonso has been hot over the last month, but this prop is about his numbers against Dodgers starter Walker Buehler.

  • 4-12
  • 3 home runs
  • 6 RBIs

Buehler has been one of the best pitchers in baseball for years. It’s impressive how much success Alonso has had against him. It wouldn’t surprise me if Alonso picked up another RBI against Buehler.

It’s hard to find value with Mookie Betts because the sportsbooks know he has been on fire in the last month. Hitting a home run would’ve presented the most value, but recording 2+ bases is more likely to happen.

Betts would need at least two singles or a double to satisfy this prop. He only has one double in his last eight games, but that stretch includes four multiple hit games and four games with a home run.

I wouldn’t recommend betting against Betts.

Mets vs. Dodgers Pick

My Pick: Mets to Win (+161)Bet on the Mets at BetOnline

The Los Angeles Dodgers earned the victory on Thursday night, but I expect a bounce-back performance from the New York Mets.

New York only produced three hits in that matchup. Los Angeles has a great pitching staff, but does anyone expect them to limit the Mets to another three-hit game? Francisco Lindor’s potential return gives me confidence in the Mets.

These teams are so close that it makes sense to take the value. Hopefully, the Mets can score a road victory. Feel free to visit our MLB picks page for more betting analysis and picks.
