Prediction for Mavericks vs. Warriors Game 5 – May 26th (2022)

| May 25, 2022 11:56 am PDT

The Dallas Mavericks successfully avoided elimination with a Game 4 victory. However, they couldn’t have been too happy with their fourth-quarter performance.

Dallas had a 29-point lead, but the Golden State Warriors cut it to single digits. Dallas held on for a 119-109 victory, but the fourth quarter could be telling for Game 5 as the series shifts back to San Francisco.

Golden State will have another chance to close out the Western Conference Finals. Will things go better on their home floor? Let’s check out the odds.

We’re seeing very little difference in the odds between the best NBA betting sites. The Golden State Warriors are the clear favorite, with the spread sitting at seven points.

Golden State’s loss in Game 4 ended a four-game streak of covering the spread. They’re no secret to being a big favorite. The Warriors are 3-2 in the playoffs with a spread of at least seven points.

The Dallas Mavericks were a seven-point underdog in Game 6 of the Conference Semifinals. They suffered a 30-point loss, so hopefully, we’ll see a better result.

The point total for his matchup is 215.5. It’s hard to get a read because we’ve seen two games over 225 points and two games under 210 points. Which will we see in Game 5?

Andre Iguodala hasn’t played since the first round, but there’s hope he can return for the NBA Finals. Will the Warriors clinch an NBA Finals appearance in Game 5?

Mavericks vs. Warriors Preview

The biggest issue for the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference Finals has been the second half. A big second half led to a Golden State Warriors victory in Games 2 and 3. Dallas made sure that wouldn’t happen in Game 4, outscoring Golden State by 14 in the third quarter.

That gave them a 29-point lead heading into the fourth quarter. It’s a good thing they built up that margin because the Warriors staged a ferocious comeback.

Here is a recap of the fourth quarter in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals.

  Golden State Warriors Dallas Mavericks
Points 39 20
Field Goal Shooting 15-20 7-18
Three-Point Percentage 4-4 1-7

What’s impressive about this stretch was Golden State did it with their stars on the bench. Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody combined for 18 points on 6-8 field goal shooting. Perhaps they earned themselves more playing time in Game 5.

Overall, Dallas did a nice job on the defensive end. Stephen Curry was the leading scorer with 20 points. Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole failed to reach 15 points. The Mavericks can climb back in the series if they continue to slow down Golden State’s stars.

Luka Doncic had another fantastic game, but Dallas’ supporting cast stood out to me.

  • Dorian Finney-Smith: 23 points
  • Reggie Bullock: 18 points
  • Jalen Brunson: 15 points
  • Maxi Kleber: 13 points

Everyone knows Doncic is one of the best players in the NBA. However, he can’t beat the Warriors on his own. His teammates stepped up in Game 4, and they’ll need to continue if Dallas wants to advance to the NBA Finals.

Dallas dominated the first half of Game 2 in Golden State. It’s not impossible to win on the road, but they need to play 48 minutes to extend the series.

Mavericks vs. Warriors Same Game Parlay

  • Jalen Brunson Over 3.5 Assists (+130)
  • Reggie Bullock Under 3.5 Rebounds (+120)
  • Kevon Looney Under 9.5 Rebounds (+104)

It’s not often you have a same game parlay with three props that don’t feature the favorite. We have plenty of value with this same game parlay. Bettors will have (+807) odds for Game 5.

Jalen Brunson averaged 4.8 assists in the regular season. His assist numbers dropped in the Conference Semifinals, but they rose in the Western Conference Finals.

Brunson has over 3.5 assists in three of the four games. He nearly hit this mark in Game 3 but recorded three assists. Brunson had over 3.5 assists in his four regular-season matchups with the Golden State Warriors. I’m not sure why the over isn’t the favorite, but it’s a great chance to find value.

Reggie Bullock bounced back from a rough Game 3 performance with 21 points in Game 4. His scoring has been inconsistent, but the rebounding numbers are down.

  • Game 1: 3 rebounds
  • Game 2: 3 rebounds
  • Game 3: 4 rebounds
  • Game 4: 2 rebounds

Bullock went under his rebound projection in three of his four regular-season matchups against Golden State. It’s confusing to see the sportsbooks favor him going over 3.5 rebounds.

Kevon Looney went off with 21 points and 12 rebounds in Game 2. It was a career performance, but it was also only the third time he cleared 9.5 rebounds in the postseason. The sportsbooks have boosted his rebounding projection, but I’m not buying it.

Looney only had six rebounds in Game 4. Not to mention, he failed to record double-digit rebounds in three of the four regular-season matchups against the Dallas Mavericks.

Mavericks vs. Warriors Pick

  • Warriors (-7.0)

I unsuccessfully picked the Golden State Warriors to win Game 4. They failed to do so, but I have confidence in the Warriors in Game 5. There’s no value with the moneyline, so let’s pivot to the spread.

Golden State’s fourth-quarter rally further validates they’re the better team. They don’t want to go back to Dallas with back-to-back losses. They should end the series with a big victory.

TNT will have coverage of Thursday’s game at 9 p.m. ET. BetUS will give you a chance to bet on Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals.
