Matchups Picks for the 2020 Bermuda Championship

| October 27, 2020 11:18 am PDT

Forget about the lack of superstars competing in the Southampton Parish. A prestigious PGA Tour event gets underway on Thursday morning – meaning it’s time to zero in on the best Bermuda Championship head-to-head matchup picks.

Nabbing a pair of underdogs and one favorite led to a fruitful week at Sherwood, so let’s go right back to the well.

I’ll begin by fading the defending champ.

Brendon Todd vs. Doc Redman

Brendon Todd-145
Doc Redman+125

Brendon Todd is the highest-ranked golfer in the field and he smashed Port Royal Golf Course last year to the tune of shooting 24-under-par. The problem is those are the only two reasons the top golf betting sites decided to install Todd as such an overwhelming favorite against Redman in this matchup.

Betting golf profitably involves taking a look at “what have you done for me lately.”

The fact of the matter is Brendon hasn’t broken 69 during his last 11 rounds on tour. He’s been a bit loose off the tee and is searching for rhythm with his flat-stick.

Flip the coin and Doc Redman arrives with a couple of top-3s among his last five starts and sits 24th in SG: Tee-to-Green. For comparison, Todd ranks 209th in that same statistic.

Justin Suh vs. Danny Willett

Justin Suh-107
Danny Willett-113

One look at my Bermuda Championship predictions post is all it takes to see how much I like Justin Suh this week.

Laying -107 in a head-to-head matchup versus Danny Willett is just one more opportunity to capitalize.

A lingering wrist issue slowed down the start of Justin’s professional career, but the gates are starting to burst open. His health and swing are both in order – as evidenced by finishing 14th in Puntacana and 8th at TPC Summerlin.

While Danny Willett is an accomplished golfer with a long list of accolades, let’s get back to the aforementioned theme that focuses on recent results.

The 2016 Masters champ has missed five of his last six cuts and has played eight straight tournaments without recording a top-30 finish.

Henrik Stenson vs. Peter Malnati

Henrik Stenson-145
Peter Malnati+125

Name recognition is why Henrik Stenson is favored in this matchup. Stenson’s poor form – combined with Peter Malnati’s current groove – are what make this one of my top Bermuda Championship head-to-head picks.

Those seeking confirmation that Stenson has been moseying around with his family concentrating on things outside of golf – look no further than his game log.

Tournament Finish
Sanderson Farms Championship MC
Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship T21
US Open MC
PGA Championship MC
WGC – FedEx St. Jude Invitational T35

Just five starts since the restart in June.

As for Malnati, he’s turned a corner over the last three months. The 33-year-old Mizzou product has connected on five of his last six cuts and has posted top-5s in each of his last two appearances.

Frankly, you have to be hypersensitive to value if you don’t consider backing Malnati at +125 in this Bermuda Championship matchup.

More Bermuda Championship Picks

As alluring as these head-to-head picks for the Bermuda Championship are, throwing a couple of lineups in the to GPPs on DraftKings is equally enthralling. As is taking a stab on a few tournament sleepers.

Right on cue, here are some more PGA Tour betting picks for the week.
