Manchester United vs. West Bromwich Albion – EPL, November 21, 2020

Manchester United’s inconsistent form this season sees the club in the lower half of the table. But there have been some good individual performances that Solskjaer will be hoping will inspire the rest of the squad.

This game against West Brom on Saturday will now be considered as a must win for the home side. But Slaven Bilic’s men also desperately need the points.

Manchester United may be struggling at the moment but the bookmakers see this game as a perfect opportunity to get back to winning ways and climb the table. West Brom has improved slightly but still hasn’t won a game all season – so the odds look just about right to me.

After defeats to Arsenal and Istanbul Basaksehir in the space of a week, Manchester United needed to enter the international break with a morale-boosting victory against an Everton side that had started the season very brightly. So the 3-1 win away from home was warmly welcomed and probably left United hoping that rest from the EPL wouldn’t break that flow.

But West Brom at home is probably the perfect fixture to come back to. The Baggies are struggling and if Bruno Fernandes can orchestrate play like he has done so far this season, then this game could be put out of reach fairly early on. United looks like having the players to be able to do well this season but it needs them all firing on all cylinders at the same time.

If that does happen this weekend, West Brom could be in real trouble. There are three clubs that are yet to win a league game in the top flight this season and Slaven Bilic will not want to go too much further into the season before picking up three points from a game.

His side actually looked much better against Spurs in the last game before the break. But an 88^th minute goal was a real killer and it is that kind of luck that has dogged West Brom so far this year. Having to deal with an away trip to Old Trafford this weekend will probably not have been its first choice.

It hasn’t been the case every week, but the form of Bruno Fernandes has sometimes been the only reason why Manchester United haven’t been badly beaten this season. His all-round play and distribution – and his penalties – have been instrumental in every positive move for United so far. It would not be a shock if he is the main reason why his team win again on Saturday.
