Manchester United vs. Tottenham Hotspur Betting Preview – EPL, October 4, 2020

Jose Mourinho returns to Old Trafford as Spurs manager for the second time and will be hoping that his side will begin a more consistent period of form as the new season gets underway.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United has won one and lost one so far and have yet to really look like a team ready to make a challenge at the top of the EPL.
Manchester United vs. Spurs Odds
Manchester United is made the favorite at home here by the oddsmakers and that might be down to Tottenham’s inability to inspire rather than Solskjaer’s team looking like it can take on anyone at the moment. These are probably two fairly even teams that could give each other a good game – but the home bet is the one that does look more likely to come in.
Manchester United vs. Spurs Match Preview
Manchester United became the first team ever to score a goal after the final whistle had been blown last weekend, as it was awarded a penalty thanks to VAR at the end of the game. Bruno Fernandes scored from the spot around ten minutes into re-started stoppage time and Brighton’s hearts were broken.
In truth, United was by far the better side but it did look very tired. The Red Devils may only have played two games this season but there was hardly any rest between the end of the last extended campaign and this one beginning. Solskjaer will be hoping that the upcoming international break gives his players a chance to recuperate.
Jose Mourinho should probably look to exploit United’s fatigue by putting out a team that will run at the home side on Sunday. But he is not always a manager that is happy taking the game to his opponents – and he will be missing players such as Gareth Bale and Son Heung-min who would be perfect in that kind of formation.
There are still squad members that could trouble United this weekend but there is sometimes a feeling that Mourinho is quite happy with his team not losing rather than going all out for a win. It has been a mixed bag of results so far, even though Spurs should have beaten Newcastle last weekend and was very unlucky with its own VAR controversy to end up with just a point.
Manchester United vs. Spurs Betting Pick
-
Manchester United to Win-108
With Manchester United not exactly clicking so far there is a chance that Spurs can come away from Old Trafford with a point – or even three. But I’m not sure the odds are attractive enough to offer good value for those eventualities. The home side should win this one and I think United will be just good enough for a narrow victory.
