Manchester United vs. Chelsea Betting Preview – EPL, October 24, 2020

Frank Lampard takes his Chelsea team to Old Trafford on Saturday hoping that his defenders can start playing as well as his attackers. The lack of cohesiveness at the back has been the London club’s downfall so far this season.

That’s not to say that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is having a wonderful time of his own right now. Manchester United still looks to be a shade off the pace – although the late comeback against Newcastle will have been warmly welcomed.

This is another closely priced game from MyBookie in the English Premier League this weekend. But that is more to do with the limitations of each side rather than the positive aspects of how they have played. The defense of both United and Chelsea looks suspect and that could make for an entertaining game – for the neutral at least.

After the humiliating defeat at the hand of Spurs just before the international break, the 4-1 win at St James’ Park on Saturday was the perfect way to come back – even if three of the goals came in the last five minutes of the game. The victory was definitely deserved though – and Bruno Fernandes continues to look like one of the best players in the league.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made a number of changes after that Spurs defeat and he showed that there is enough talent in the squad for this Manchester United team to compete – if perhaps not at the very highest level. David De Gea’s performance against Newcastle will have especially pleased his manager after some trying times.

But Frank Lampard will be wondering what to do with his own goalkeeping problems. The signing of Edouard Mendy has helped the issue in the long term but he will be out for this one with a thigh injury after playing in just one game so far. It looks as though the Chelsea manager will have to hope that Kepa doesn’t make any more mistakes between the posts this weekend.

If the Chelsea defenders could play like the attackers then Lampard might not have so many worries at all. Timo Werner scored his first Premier League goals against Southampton – and Kai Havertz also looks very at home in England. But Chelsea has the worst defensive record in the top half of the table – apart from Liverpool – and there will need to be a lot of work done to rectify that.

With Antony Martial still suspended there will be something missing from the Manchester United forward line on Saturday. Marcus Rashford should cause the Chelsea defenders a lot of problems but it was the France international that looked like the main threat towards the end of last season. Chelsea can score a few goals as well of course, so this could end up being another high scoring draw.
