Manchester United vs. Brighton and Hove Albion – English Premier League, April 4, 2021

| April 3, 2021 10:47 am PDT

Manchester United scored a winning penalty in the 10th minute of stoppage time to take all three points at the AMEX earlier in the season. But Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will want this Sunday’s game decided long before that.

Brighton is the team with its tail up, as the Seagulls look to extend the recent good run and consolidate Premier League status for another year.

Although BetOnline has made United the odds on favorite to win this one at home on Sunday, it is very noticeable that the price for a Brighton victory is not particularly long.

That’s because the bookmaker knows that the away side will be really up for this one – and that could make a few people take the risk of backing Graham Potter’s side.

Match Preview

Manchester United has only lost one game since the start of November but still fails to be seen as a consistently good side. That may be because the team is compared to the league winners of the past – or the team from the other side of Manchester. But for whatever reason, United’s position in second place seems to be treated as more of a fluke than anything else.

There is no denying that United has looked poor on occasions this season, but there are some excellent players in the squad.

If Bruno Fernandes is playing, it always has a chance of taking all three points from any opponent. Brighton may become just the latest side to find that out this weekend.

But there is a real sense of belief at the south coast club at the moment. Graham Potter has been criticized at times this season, but his tactics have started to pay dividends now. Back-to-back wins just before the international break has provided some daylight between it and the bottom four clubs – and the victory over Newcastle was priceless.

Brighton has even managed to score some goals recently. The strikers at the club had looked very poor earlier in the season, but there now has been some celebrations. Leandro Trossard has been particularly effective, scoring in the last two games for his club and continuing that form for his national side. He will want more at Old Trafford this weekend.

Manchester United vs. Brighton Betting Pick

  • Manchester United to Win

The relegation battle now seems to be between Newcastle and Fulham, but Brighton could still be dragged into it if some points are not picked up in the coming weeks.

As much as the confidence is there in the Seagulls squad, I’m not sure that it will be able to overcome United at home on Sunday.
