Manchester City vs. West Ham United Betting Preview – EPL, February 27, 2021

Two of the Premier League’s form sides meet in the early game on Saturday as Manchester City entertain West Ham at the Etihad Stadium.

The Hammers have been a revelation since the turn of the year and go into this game occupying the fourth Champions League spot. But it is City that looks down on the rest of the league at the moment – and hasn’t lost a game since November.

If any club is to beat Manchester City at the moment, it could actually be West Ham. BetOnline’s pricing of this game does not reflect that, but it is the London side that has been surprising everyone this year. City has been utterly dominant since before Christmas, though – and even with the attractive odds, a home win is most likely here.

Manchester City might have only scored one goal at the weekend, but it was enough to beat an improving Arsenal away from home – and extend an incredible unbeaten run for Pep Guardiola’s side. It is almost as if City has not even missed Kevin De Bruyne in the last few weeks.

The Belgian playmaker made his return at the Emirates but looked a little tired towards the end. He should be in the running for a start at the Etihad on Saturday, but there is a lot of talent in the City squad. Guardiola has been able to rely on the likes of Foden and Gundogan recently and knows that he can turn to them again if needed.

David Moyes will need to stop the City midfield from running the show if it is to keep up its own good recent record. West Ham has looked far more determined in the last few weeks and got one over Spurs at the weekend in a game that really showed which one of the two clubs has more of a chance of qualifying for European soccer next season.

Michail Antonio is fully fit once again and overwhelmed the Tottenham defense on Sunday. But Moyes will be pleased that his teammates have stepped up by providing some goals now. Even the absence of Ogbonna at the back has been dealt with, with Craig Dawson ably fitting in against Spurs. He could be busier on Saturday, however.

Against any other team, these odds for a West Ham victory would look too good to be true. But Manchester City has swept away everything in its path for the last three or four months and has made a mockery of the criticism leveled at Guardiola and his team earlier in the season. The odds for a home win are not good, but I can’t see this finishing any other way.
