Manchester City’s winning streak continues – and with it, the likelihood of another Premier League title win for Pep Guardiola. Spurs is the latest side to attempt to slow that down this Saturday.

Tottenham has fallen down the league in the last few weeks but was reinvigorated by the return of Harry Kane at the weekend. He will need to be on top form to win this one for his team.

The odds from BetOnline for this fixture reflect the confidence the bookmakers have of Manchester City continuing its hot streak this weekend – and possibly until the end of the season. Spurs is a different team with Harry Kane, but a home win is the only real choice here, in my opinion.

Last weekend’s game at Anfield against Liverpool was billed as a test of whether Jurgen Klopp’s side could challenge Manchester City this season for the title. The 4-1 final score suggests that the race may now be over, as Pep Guardiola’s men extended the lead at the top of the table to five points – with a game in hand over their nearest rivals.

City was utterly dominant against a largely toothless Liverpool. There could have been even more goals – and Ilkay Gundogan even missed a penalty before bagging two later on in the game. Tottenham could be in for a rough ride at the Etihad on Saturday.

Jose Mourinho will be particularly happy that he can call on Harry Kane again, though. The England captain returned, ahead of schedule, for the straightforward victory over West Brom on Sunday and that win ended a run of three consecutive defeats that had seen Spurs drop further behind Manchester City’s chasing pack.

Now Spurs must work out how to break into the top four again – and claim one of those crucial Champions League spots. Picking up the points for that challenge might have to wait for another week, though – and we should probably expect a Mourinho defensive display this weekend.

It is frightening to think how good Manchester City has been in the last few weeks when you consider that both Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero haven’t even been available. The wealth of talent in the entire squad has really stepped up, and another title seems almost a mere formality. Three points at home on Saturday should help with that quest.
