Manchester City vs. Liverpool – EPL, November 8, 2020
Liverpool ran away with the title last season and left Manchester City in a very distant second. It was expected to be a much closer race this time around.
But City has not started the campaign the way many pundits believed it would – and Pep could really do with a win on Sunday.
Manchester City vs. Liverpool Latest Odds
Although games between the two clubs regarded to be the best in the EPL have been unpredictable over the last few seasons, MyBookie seems pretty sure that City will prevail at home. Although that could easily happen, it does mean that the odds for a Liverpool victory look very enticing.
Manchester City vs. Liverpool Match Preview
It was expected that Manchester City would come out fighting in the opening weeks of the new season after capitulating last time and allowing Liverpool to win the league by a mile. But the results have not been quite as expected. It has only won half of its games so far and sits in mid table.
It does still have a game in hand, of course. But if City does lose this one, it will be eight points behind Liverpool already. There has only been one defeat in the first six games but draws with Leeds and West Ham have severely dented the club’s hopes of kicking off on a high.
Liverpool has managed to be thrashed 7-2 by Aston Villa – and is still top of the league. That suggests that Jurgen Klopp will not enjoy such an easy ride this season, although his team must be favorite to win back-to-back league titles. The win against West Ham at the weekend was not the most convincing display, but it still ended up adding three more points to the total.
The main reason for that was another telling contribution from Diogo Jota. Before the season started it was Thiago Alcantara who was expected to add another dimension to Liverpool’s dynamic attack. But it is the Portuguese forward signed from Wolves who looks like making all the difference at the moment.
Manchester City vs. Liverpool Betting Pick
Liverpool to Win+224
I’m not sure that we will see odds like this for a Liverpool win many times this season – and especially not against one of the top six. This game could just as easily go City’s way, but I don’t think I can pass up these kinds of odds when Liverpool is playing so well.
