Manchester City vs. Everton – English Premier League, May 23, 2021

Manchester City has eased off the gas in the last few weeks as the Premier League has already been won. Thoughts now have transferred to the upcoming Champions League final.

But on Sunday, the champions will play in front of their fans for the first time in a long time, so they will be keen to beat Everton on the last day of the season.

BetOnline has made City the favorites to win this one at the Etihad and has seemingly disregarded Everton’s chances even though the Merseyside club will be desperate for the points as it strives to qualify for Europe.

Even though Everton needs to win, I still think the home win is probably the way to go here.

Manchester City vs. Everton Match Preview

City lost again in the week after losing Joao Cancelo to a red card after just ten minutes played in its game with Brighton. Ilkay Gundogan had opened the scoring just after the kick-off, but the Seagulls kept on pushing throughout the game and ended up making the numerical advantage pay with a winner 15 minutes from time.

It was the third defeat in just six games for Pep Guardiola’s side. But, since the Premier League title has already been won, there will be few worries at the club. There is a couple of injury concerns for Guardiola, though, so he is likely to rest some players ahead of the Champions League final at the end of the month.

Still, this is a deep squad, so Everton will not have an easy time of it.

This is the last chance for Carlo Ancelotti’s men to live up to some of the early season promises and qualify for Europe. Although not many fans would have seriously believed that the club would be challenging for the title, there would have been a hope that the Toffees would be higher up the table after the start they had.

Now Ancelotti has a fully fit squad to choose from as it attempts to get something from this game and hopes that Spurs slip up and Arsenal fail to do any better. It is a long shot to finish in the top seven, in my opinion, but Everton should at least give City a good game here.

Manchester City vs. Everton Betting Pick

  • Manchester City to Win

There will be a frustratingly familiar feeling for Everton fans as their team looks to fall just short again. There is a chance that Ancelotti can mold a side that will compete next season – and he has the core of a very good side at the moment. But I feel as though Pep Guardiola will look at this game as a chance for his players to shine before the big game against Chelsea.

That means a home win on Sunday.
