But can Dortmund spring a surprise? Keep reading to find my Manchester City vs. Borussia Dortmund prediction and pick.

As you can see, the leading online sportsbooks are expecting Man City to win the first leg without any problems. I mean, even the price for the draw is massive.

The sky-high odds for the away win are bound to attract some attention here, although it is important to remember that Man City is on a ridiculous run at the moment.

Let’s take a closer look at both sides.

Man City vs. Dortmund Match Preview

When you consider that Guardiola’s men have only lost one of their last 34 outings in all competitions, you could be forgiven for thinking that the result of Tuesday’s match is a foregone conclusion.

Ultimately, the Cityzens have been nothing short of immense throughout 2020/21 – and their Champions League campaign only underlines their dominance.

Having gone unbeaten – five wins and one draw – during the group stage, Man City crushed Borussia Monchengladbach 4-0 in the Round of 16. Across eight UCL games, Guardiola’s men have scored a whopping 17 goals (2.1 goals per game) while conceding just once in the process.

The EPL champions-elect beat Leicester City 2-0 on Saturday, moving 14 points clear at the Premier League summit. With 18 wins coming in their previous 19 league matches, Man City’s supremacy is clear for all to see.

Remarkably, Guardiola’s men still have a chance to get their hands on four trophies this year. But we all know that Champions League glory is the club’s main aim.

On the flip side, it’s fair to say that Borussia Dortmund has been wildly inconsistent this season.

A 2-1 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday means that Edin Terzic’s men are now seven points shy of the Champions League places in the Bundesliga, not to mention the 21-point gulf between them and Bayern Munich.

Having suffered one defeat in six UCL group games, BVB edged out Sevilla 5-4 on aggregate in the previous round. Unsurprisingly, Erling Haaland was at the heart of the action – bagging a brace in both legs.

Haaland has netted 33 goals in 32 games this term, including ten goals in six Champions League appearances. Boasting an overall record of 20 goals in 14 UCL outings, Dortmund’s hopes of overcoming Man City rest firmly on the 20-year-old’s shoulders.

Jadon Sancho – who has 12 goals and 16 assists in 31 matches this season – will miss the first leg against his former club due to injury.

My Man City vs. Dortmund Prediction and Pick

  • Manchester City to Win

Above all, I expect this game to be a thrilling encounter. Both sides possess a frightening array of attacking talent, meaning we should see plenty of goals on Tuesday.

When it comes to my Manchester City vs. Borussia Dortmund prediction, I simply can’t look past Man City. Dortmund is likely to give Guardiola’s men a run for their money, but I can’t see City losing this one.
