We have a tasty midweek round of Major League Soccer games to get our teeth into on Wednesday, July 13, with a total of 20 teams in action.

Today, I will be sharing my MLS predictions for Wednesday, July 9. Having scoured the best Major League Soccer betting sites, I will also go over the top MLS picks for the midweek matchups.

Only one team – Philadelphia – is favored to win away from home on Wednesday. The Union is expected to beat Inter Miami in Florida, dishing up juicy odds of +150.

Atlanta United, Chicago Fire, FC Cincinnati, Minnesota United, Colorado Rapids, and LA Galaxy are all heavy home favorites. DC United, Nashville SC, and FC Dallas are also favored to win on home soil. But only just!

It’s time to dive into Wednesday’s Major League Soccer predictions. I have decided to cover three standout clashes in detail before providing the remainder of my MLS predictions for Wednesday.

Believe it or not, Philadelphia has suffered just two defeats in 19 MLS outings this year. Granted, Jim Curtin’s men have registered nine draws. But they still find themselves joint-top of the Eastern Conference after picking up eight wins.

Meanwhile, Inter Miami sits tenth in the East – 11 points behind Philadelphia. The Herons have only managed to win six of their 18 games, recording four draws and eight defeats in the process.

This season, no team in MLS has scored fewer goals than Inter Miami’s 18. Since Philly has conceded fewer goals than any other side, I’m confident that Curtin’s men will claim all three points on Wednesday.

Minnesota heads into Wednesday’s clash against Sporting Kansas City on a three-game winning streak, having dispatched the Galaxy (3-2), Real Salt Lake (3-2), and Vancouver (3-1) in recent weeks.

As a result, the Loons find themselves one point inside the top seven in the Western Conference. Following a slow start to the campaign, they appear to be heading in the right direction.

On top of that, the Wizards have conceded a whopping 34 goals this year. Given that Minnesota has netted three goals in each of their previous three games, I expect the Loons to make light work of SKC.

No team in Major League Soccer has recorded fewer wins than San Jose’s four this season. Consequently, the Earthquakes find themselves rock bottom of the Western Conference with the league’s joint-worst defensive record.

The Quakes have won just one of their previous seven games in all competitions, conceding 11 goals along the way. Although they claimed a 2-2 draw against Toronto FC last time out, they should struggle to overcome the Galaxy.

The Galaxy will be eager to bounce back from last weekend’s El Trafico defeat to LAFC. With that in mind, I can see them running riot against San Jose’s leaky backline.

I can see several road victories occurring on Wednesday. In fact, I’m backing Real Salt Lake, Columbus Crew, Orlando City, and New York City to win on their travels. Elsewhere, I expect Nashville SC to beat Seattle Sounders in Tennessee.

I also expect both Chicago Fire vs. Toronto FC and FC Cincinnati vs. Vancouver Whitecaps to end in a draw. Chicago and Toronto are separated by just two points at the bottom of the East, while Cincy is on a three-game drawing streak.

The odds for RSL, Philadelphia, and NYCFC to win are certainly worth taking advantage of. Granted, they are all away from home on Wednesday. But they are all capable of beating their respective opponents.

This year, games involving San Jose average 3.7 goals. The Earthquakes have the joint-worst defensive record in the league, but they have also scored more goals than nine Western Conference sides. I expect their clash with the Galaxy to be a high-scoring encounter.
