| June 28, 2022 6:43 am PDT

The midweek Major League Soccer action continues on Thursday, June 30, as Charlotte FC, Austin FC, New York Red Bulls, and Atlanta United take center stage.

There may only be two clashes on the schedule, but there are plenty of betting opportunities to take advantage of. Today, I will be taking you through my MLS predictions for Thursday. I will also go over the top MLS picks for the upcoming games.

Where should you place your MLS bets? The list below contains some of the best options out there.

Major League Soccer Odds for Thursday, June 30

  • Charlotte FC (+120); Draw (+260); Austin FC (+231)
  • New York Red Bulls (-140); Draw (+305); Atlanta United (+388)

According to the MLS odds at BetOnline, Charlotte FC and New York Red Bulls are favored to secure home wins on Thursday. Austin should push Charlotte all the way, but Atlanta isn’t expected to give RBNY too many problems.

The high prices for the draws are bound to attract plenty of attention here. Although backing the draw is always a risky option when it comes to betting on MLS games, you can make a tasty profit if you play your cards right.

MLS Predictions for Thursday, June 30, 2022

It’s time to jump into Thursday’s Major League Soccer predictions. Once my predictions are out of the way, I will provide my recommended MLS picks for Thursday.

Charlotte FC vs. Austin FC Prediction

Major League Soccer’s youngest clubs are set to collide on Thursday, as debutant Charlotte FC hosts second-year side Austin FC. It’s fair to say that one team is coping better than the other right now.

Charlotte sits ninth in the Eastern Conference after suffering nine defeats in 17 games this season. Only one team in the entire league – Sporting Kansas City – has registered more losses in 2022.

To make matters worse for the MLS newcomers, they have one of the poorest offensive records in the league. Having netted a measly 17 goals this year, the North Carolinians will struggle to break down Austin.

  • Chicago Fire – 14
  • Sporting Kansas City – 16
  • Charlotte FC – 17
  • Colorado Rapids – 17
  • Inter Miami – 17
  • Minnesota United – 17

On the flip side, Austin sits third in the Western Conference – five points behind first-place LAFC. More importantly, though, the Texans find themselves eight points clear of Charlotte in the overall standings.

Josh Wolff’s boys have lost just four of their 16 outings this season, picking up eight wins and four draws along the way. Better still, they boast the second-best offensive record in Major League Soccer.

  • Los Angeles FC – 32
  • Austin FC – 31
  • CF Montreal – 30
  • New England Revolution – 27
  • New York City – 27

Sebastian Driussi (9 goals, 3 assists) has been immense following his move from Russian soccer, while Maxi Urruti (5 goals, 0 assists) and Diego Fagundez (3 goals, 7 assists) have played eye-catching supporting roles.

I’m backing free-scoring Austin to dispatch toothless Charlotte. The Texans have won six of their previous 11 MLS outings, so they shouldn’t struggle to claim all three points on Thursday.

My Prediction for Charlotte FC vs. Austin FC: Austin FC to Win

New York Red Bulls vs. Atlanta United Prediction

What has happened to Atlanta United?

The 2018 MLS Cup champions have only finished outside the top five in the Eastern Conference on one occasion over the years. At things stand, they find themselves tenth – four points shy of the playoff spots.

The Five Stripes have managed to win just five of their 15 league encounters this year, recording four draws and six defeats in the process. Despite the presence stars like Thiago Almada, Josef Martinez, and Luiz Araujo, the team is underperforming.

In addition to losing two of their last three MLS games, the Georgians have claimed a solitary victory in their previous six outings across all competitions. That is not good enough for a club of Atlanta’s stature.

At the opposite end of the standings, the Red Bulls find themselves fourth. Not only are they seven points clear of Atlanta, but they are also just three points behind first-place Philadelphia Union.

Granted, the New Yorkers suffered a 2-0 loss against LAFC last weekend. But there is no shame in that. When you look at the bigger picture, they have won four of their past six encounters in all competitions.

I’m confident that RBNY will make light work of Atlanta. The Five Stripes are not in a good place at the moment, while the Red Bulls could move to the summit of the Eastern Conference if things go their way this week.

My Prediction for New York Red Bulls vs. Atlanta United: New York Red Bulls to Win

Best MLS Picks for Thursday, June 30

  • Charlotte FC vs. Austin FC – Austin FC to Win (+220)
  • New York Red Bulls vs. Atlanta United – New York Red Bulls to Win and Under 2.5 Goals (+320)

I really like the look of Austin’s odds here. The Texans have been one of the best teams in Major League Soccer this season, so backing them to beat Charlotte at +220 is a no-brainer for me.

Four of RBNY’s previous five MLS games have produced under 2.5 goals, while only seven of RBNY’s games this season have dished up over 2.5 goals. With that in mind, I’m backing the Red Bulls to notch a low-scoring victory over Atlanta.
