BetOnline views New York City, Seattle Sounders, Atlanta United, CF Montreal, and Orlando City as heavy home favorites this weekend. Charlotte FC, Toronto FC, Chicago Fire, Houston Dynamo, and Real Salt Lake are also favored to win on home soil.
As you can see, the New York Red Bulls are the only side that is expected to win on the road on Saturday. Can FC Cincinnati upset the MLS odds? Or will the Red Bulls come out on top in Ohio? Whichever you think, just be sure to use the best sites for betting on soccer.

MLS Predictions for Saturday, July 9
Here are my Major League Soccer predictions for Saturday. Below, I cover three standout matchups in detail before going over the remainder of Saturday’s MLS predictions.
Austin FC to Beat Atlanta United
To say that Austin FC is enjoying an eye-catching season would be an understatement.
With 18 games in the books, the Texans find themselves second in the Western Conference after registering ten wins, four draws, and four losses. Oh, and they are also the joint-top scorers in the entire league.
On the flip side, Atlanta sits eleventh in the Eastern Conference with a record of five wins, five draws, and seven losses. Not only are the Georgians five points shy of the top seven in the East, but they are also 14 points behind Austin in the overall standings.
With all that in mind, I’m backing the Texans to extend their winning run to three games on Saturday.
CF Montreal to Beat Sporting Kansas City
Sporting KC is rock bottom of the overall standings, having taken a measly 16 points from a possible 57 this year. Kansas City has suffered more defeats than anyone else (11), while no team has picked up fewer victories (4).
Funnily enough, Montreal has actually conceded the same number of goals as SKC. However, the Canadians have netted 32 – meaning they are the fourth-highest scorers in the league.
It is worth noting that Wilfried Nancy’s boys have drawn only two of their 18 games this season. Having won nine of their previous 14, they shouldn’t struggle to get the better of the worst team in MLS right now.
Real Salt Lake to Beat Colorado Rapids
Third-place Real Salt Lake and twelfth-place Colorado are separated by ten points in the Western Conference. That tells you everything you need to know about the gulf between the Rocky Mountain Cup rivals at the moment.
The Rapids have managed to win just five of their 17 games in 2022, scoring a paltry 19 goals along the way. In addition to losing three of their last four outings, they have lost four of their previous six.
Pablo Mastroeni’s men are unbeaten on home soil this season, securing six wins and two draws at Rio Tinto Stadium. If their recent performances are anything to go by, they are set for another home victory this weekend.
More MLS Predictions for Saturday, July 9
- New York City to Beat New England Revolution
- Seattle Sounders to Beat Portland Timbers
- Charlotte FC and Nashville SC to Draw
- New York Red Bulls to Beat FC Cincinnati
- Toronto FC to Beat San Jose Earthquakes
- Chicago Fire and Columbus Crew to Draw
- Orlando City to Beat Inter Miami
- FC Dallas to Beat Houston Dynamo
New York City, Seattle, Toronto, and Orlando should claim all three points on home soil this weekend. Elsewhere, I’m backing RBNY and Dallas to win on their travels.
I can see both Charlotte FC vs. Nashville SC and Chicago Fire vs. Columbus Crew ending in a draw. Charlotte and Nashville are separated by just four points in the overall standings, while Chicago and Columbus find themselves in the bottom five in the East.
Top MLS Betting Picks for Saturday, July 9
I’m more than happy with Austin and Real Salt Lake’s odds. When you look at the standings – and the recent form guide – Austin and RSL shouldn’t struggle to beat their respective opponents on Saturday.
New York City boasts the best offensive record in the East, while New England has one of the worst defensive records. For that reason, I’m backing NYCFC to win by at least two goals.
Nine of San Jose’s 17 MLS games have produced over 3.5 goals this season (53%). Since Toronto has the worst defensive record in the East, I expect the clash between the Quakes and TFC to be a high-scoring affair.
