MLS Predictions for Saturday, July 30

Here are my MLS predictions for Saturday, July 30, 2022. Below, I cover three standout clashes in detail before going over the remainder of Saturday’s MLS predictions. Let’s kick things off with my Minnesota United vs. Portland Timbers prediction.

Minnesota United to Beat Portland Timbers

Minnesota heads into Week 23 on a six-game unbeaten streak, having claimed five wins and one draw since their last loss. As a result, the Loons find themselves third in the Western Conference – four points clear of Portland.

Granted, the Timbers are on a seven-game unbeaten run. But their away record is a major cause for concern. Indeed, Portland has only managed to pick up two victories in 11 road games this season.

I expect Portland to give the Loons a run for their money, but I’m confident that Minnesota will triumph on home soil. After all, Adrian Heath’s men have taken seven points from their previous three home encounters.

Philadelphia Union to Beat Houston Dynamo

Believe it or not, Philadelphia has STILL suffered just two losses this year. With 22 games in the books, the Union has 11 wins and nine draws in the bank.

It is also worth noting that Jim Curtin’s boys boast the best defensive record in the entire league, having conceded a measly 15 goals this season. Their nearest challenger – New York City – has conceded 21 goals.

Meanwhile, Houston has slipped to eleventh in the West after picking up just two wins across the past nine rounds. Consequently, the Texans find themselves 17 points behind the Union in the overall standings.

You probably won’t be surprised to learn that I’m backing the Eastern Conference leaders to extend their winning streak to five games this weekend.

Austin FC to Beat Sporting Kansas City

Sporting KC heads into Week 23 on the back of yet another loss. Following back-to-back defeats against Real Salt Lake (3-0) and LAFC (2-0), the Wizards have now lost 13 of their 23 games this year.

On top of that, Peter Vermes’ men have the third-worst defensive record in Major League Soccer. No wonder they find themselves two points adrift at the bottom of the Western Conference.

At the opposite end of the standings, Austin sits second – 21 points clear of SKC. The Texans have lost just five of their 22 encounters this season, securing 12 wins and five draws along the way.

It is also worth pointing out that Josh Wolff’s men are the top scorers in the entire league. Sebastian Driussi (13 goals, 7 assists) Maxi Urruti (7 goals, 2 assists), and Diego Fagundez (5 goals, 8 assists) have been immense.

Remaining MLS Predictions for Saturday

  • Chicago Fire to Beat Atlanta United
  • Columbus Crew to Beat Charlotte FC
  • CF Montreal and New York City to Draw
  • Inter Miami and FC Cincinnati to Draw
  • Nashville SC to Beat Vancouver Whitecaps
  • Toronto FC to Beat New England Revolution
  • FC Dallas to Beat LA Galaxy
  • Real Salt Lake to Beat San Jose Earthquakes

I can see a handful of away sides upsetting the MLS odds on Saturday. In fact, I’m backing the Columbus, Crew, Toronto FC, and Real Salt Lake to win on the road this weekend.

Elsewhere, I expect Chicago Fire, Nashville SC, and FC Dallas to triumph on home soil. I can also see both CF Montreal vs. New York City and Inter Miami vs. FC Cincinnati ending in a draw.

Top MLS Picks for Saturday, July 30, 2022

It’s time to go over the best MLS picks for Saturday, July 30. Be sure to shop around the top Major League Soccer betting sites to find the best prices.

  • Chicago Fire vs. Atlanta United – Chicago Fire to Win (+102)
  • Sporting Kansas City vs. Austin FC – Austin FC to Win (+170)
  • San Jose Earthquakes vs. Real Salt Lake – Both Teams to Score and Over 2.5 Goals (-111)

Chicago heads into Week 23 on a three-game winning streak. By contrast, Atlanta has managed to pick up just two wins across the past 11 rounds. With that in mind, odds of +102 for the Fire to beat the Five Stripes are too tasty to ignore.

I’m also backing Austin to get the better of Kansas City. The Texans are the top scorers in the league, while the Wizards have the third-worst defensive record. Need I say more?

This season, 15 of San Jose’s 21 games have dished up over 2.5 goals. Since four of Real Salt Lake’s previous five outings have produced at least three goals, I expect this clash to be a high-scoring encounter.
