Right, it’s time to dive into Saturday’s MLS predictions.
MLS Predictions for Saturday, August 6
Here are my Major League Soccer predictions for Saturday, August 6. Let’s kick things off with my FC Cincinnati vs. Philadelphia Union prediction.
Philadelphia Union to Beat FC Cincinnati
Philadelphia thrashed Houston 6-0 last weekend, extending their winning streak to five games. When you look at the bigger picture, the Union has suffered a solitary defeat across the past 16 league outings.
Jim Curtin’s men find themselves three points clear atop the Eastern Conference and three points behind LAFC in the overall standings. Can they clinch a second Supporters’ Shield in three years?
On the flip side, Cincinnati sits ninth in the East – 16 points behind Philly. The Ohioans have managed to win just one of their previous 11 encounters, registering seven draws and three losses along the way.
You probably won’t be surprised to learn that I’m backing the U to claim all three points on Saturday.
Austin FC to Best San Jose Earthquakes
A mammoth 21 points separate second-place Austin and second-bottom San Jose in the Western Conference. That tells you everything you need to know about the gulf in quality between the teams.
The Texans have lost just five of their 23 MLS games this season, picking up 13 wins and five draws in the process. Better still, they are the league’s top scorers – having netted 47 goals this year (2.04 goals per game).
By contrast, the Quakes have managed to win just five of their 23 league games in 2022. To make matters worse, they have the poorest defensive record in the West.
I can see Sebastian Driussi (14 goals, 7 assists), Maxi Urruti (7 goals, 2 assists), Diego Fagundez (5 goals, 9 assists), and the rest of the Austin attackers humiliating San Jose’s leaky backline this weekend.
Los Angeles FC to Beat Real Salt Lake
LAFC heads into Week 24 on a four-game winning streak, having dispatched the Galaxy (3-2), Nashville (2-1), Kansas City (2-0), and Seattle (2-1). Consequently, the Californians find themselves four points clear atop the West.
In addition to winning six of their last seven games, Steve Cherundolo’s boys have won eight of their previous ten. With Gareth Bale beginning to find his feet in Cali, LAFC will only get stronger.
Meanwhile, Real Salt Lake has slipped to fifth – 14 points behind LAFC. Pablo Mastroeni’s men made an eye-catching start to the season, but they have only managed to win one of their previous seven encounters.
I’m backing the Californians to extend their winning streak to five games on Saturday. Ultimately, LAFC is on a totally different level to RSL right now.

Top MLS Picks for Saturday, August 6
It’s time to go over the best MLS picks for Saturday, August 6. In my eyes, the following MLS picks offer excellent betting value.
CF Montreal vs. Inter Miami – Both Teams to Score-133
FC Cincinnati vs. Philadelphia Union – Philadelphia Union to Win+145
Austin FC vs. San Jose Earthquakes – Over 3.5 Goals+120
Real Salt Lake vs. Los Angeles FC – Los Angeles FC to Win+145
Portland Timbers vs. FC Dallas – Portland Timbers to Win+112
This season, both teams have scored in 17 of Montreal’s 23 MLS games. Since the Canadians have the highest BTTS ratio in the league (74%), we should see plenty of action when Inter Miami heads north.
Believe it or not, games involving San Jose average 3.6 goals this year. The Quakes have the second-worst defensive record in the entire league, while Austin boasts the best offensive record. The over 3.5 goals wager feels like the best bet for this clash.
I’m more than happy to back Philadelphia, LAFC, and Portland this weekend. Due to their away status, Philly and LAFC’s odds are seriously attractive.
