MAD Lions vs. INTZ Pick – Friday, September 25, 2020
The LoL Worlds 2020 Play-Ins start on Friday and the opening match will feature MAD Lions and INTZ. The European side is one of the favorites to qualify for the Main Event, while the Brazilians are somewhere in the middle of the field.
I share my thoughts on the upcoming match in this MAD Lions vs. INTZ betting preview that includes the latest odds, analysis of both sides, my prediction, and a free betting pick.
Before we get there, let me remind you that the group stage of the tournament is played in the best-of-one format, so there will be only one game of League of Legends.
MAD Lions vs. INTZ Odds
- MAD Lions to win; -500
- INTZ to win; +317
- MAD Lions (-9.5); -114
- INTZ (+9.5); -127
The MAD Lions vs. INTZ odds of the top betting sites confirm the fact that the European team is the overwhelming favorite to win this match. If you wonder what the second market I show represents, it’s the kills handicap.
MAD Lions Current Form
I’m pretty sure that MAD Lions hoped to qualify for the League of Legends Worlds Main Event 2020 directly, but they failed to get into the top three during the LEC Summer Playoffs. The team was sent to the Losers’ bracket early on by G2 and then got destroyed by Rogue.
I believe that the main problem in the deciding matches was the lack of experience. The roster consists of young and talented players that already defied the odds in 2020. I don’t think that many expected to see MAD Lions challenging the top LEC sides.
The team relies on getting early leads and snowballing from there which has worked more often than not. The guys also have a wide pool of lineups, especially when it comes to Kaiser. We’ve seen the support pick various unorthodox champions and make them work.
INTZ Current Form
The story of the 2020 season so far has been remarkable for INTZ. The team had to through a relegation playoff to keep its place in CBLOL in the spring, before winning the summer edition to qualify for the LoL Worlds 2020 Play-Ins.
The turnaround happened without any roster changes which makes it even more staggering. And yet, I believe that INTZ will struggle in the opening match. The team’s way behind the MAD Lions in terms of talent.
The audacious European youngsters are simply better mechanically and have more different ways to win, so the Brazilian squad will have to rely mostly on experience and find a way to outsmart them.
MAD Lions vs. INTZ Prediction and Pick
I have to be honest here, I don’t see how INTZ could win versus MAD Lions. The European side is one of the strongest in the tournament and a favorite to go through. Considering the format and the presence of Team Liquid in this group A, every game could be crucial.
I expect to see the best from MAD Lions from day one and the team should be able to take control of the game early on. The price for a straight win is not high enough, so I prefer backing the favorite to cover the -9.5 kills handicap instead.
- Pick: MAD Lions (-9.5); -114
