Macarthur FC vs. Brisbane Roar – A-League, April 9, 2021

High-flying Macarthur will aim to extend their winning streak to four games when Brisbane visits Campbelltown Stadium on Friday, April 9. Kicking off Matchday 16, the Bulls can move to within one point of first-place Central Coast.
By contrast, Warren Moon’s men head to New South Wales on a dismal eight-match winless run. The Roar currently sit eighth on the A-League ladder – nine points behind Macarthur.
Before we get into my Macarthur FC vs. Brisbane Roar prediction and betting pick, let’s check out the odds for Friday’s A-League clash.
Macarthur FC vs. Brisbane Roar Odds
When you consider the contrasting form of these two sides, the high price for the home win immediately stands out. At the end of the day, Macarthur is playing far better soccer than Brisbane at the moment.
At first glance, the odds seem very generous over at the top online betting sites. Before I share my Macarthur vs. Brisbane pick, let’s take a closer look at the teams.
Macarthur FC vs. Brisbane Roar Preview
It’s safe to say that Macarthur’s maiden A-League campaign is going better than expected, right? I mean, we are almost halfway through the regular season – and the Bulls have the chance to move into second place on Friday.
Ante Milicic’s men have endured their fair share of ups and downs this term. But recently, there have been far more ups than downs.
The Bulls have only lost three of their previous ten matches, picking up six wins along the way. Following victories over Western United, Wellington, and Perth, they are currently enjoying the longest winning streak in the club’s short history.
Guys like Markel Susaeta and Benat have pulled strings throughout the campaign, while experienced heads such as Adam Federici and Mark Milligan have played their part. However, one man has stood out from the crowd – Matt Derbyshire.
The English striker scored both goals as Macarthur beat the Glory 2-0 last time out, taking his tally to ten goals in 15 appearances this season. If he continues to fire, the Bulls will continue to march up the A-League ladder.
Funnily enough, Brisbane’s eight-match winless run began with a 2-0 loss to Macarthur – and that came all the way back in February!
Since then, the Roar has secured five draws, so it hasn’t all been doom and gloom. But with the team’s last victory coming over two months ago, Brisbane’s top-six hopes are fading fast.
Having conceded just four goals in their last four matches, Moon’s men have been able to avoid any heavy defeats. But at the other end of the pitch, they have only managed to score three goals in reply.
The Queenslanders boast the second-best defensive record in the league, although they are also the third-lowest scorers. It goes without saying that Moon’s men need to start scoring goals to move up the ladder.
Dylan Wenzel-Halls started the season in flying form, netting five goals in the first five matches. However, the 23-year-old has managed to bag just one goal in his last eight appearances.
My Macarthur vs. Brisbane Betting Pick
-
Macarthur FC to Win2.10
Given that you can do more than double your money by backing Macarthur to win on Friday, going with the home victory makes perfect sense here.
Brisbane just can’t seem to find a win at the moment, while the Bulls can’t stop winning. I expect Milicic’s men to seal their fourth straight victory and heap more misery on the Roar at Campbelltown Stadium.
