Los Angeles Rams vs. Washington Football Team Betting Preview – NFL, October 11, 2020

The Los Angeles Rams are firm favorites to get their fourth victory when they visit the Washington Football Team on Sunday. The Rams bounced back from a late, narrow defeat to the Buffalo Bills with a low-scoring W over the Giants, while Washington hoped to avoid the fourth consecutive loss.

Here is my Rams vs. Washington pick and prediction.

The Los Angeles Rams displayed their best defensive performance of the season in a 17-9 victory over the New York Giants, keeping the rivals scoreless in two quarters and not allowing a touchdown along the way. The Rams did have the weakest offensive display of the season, though, but that was enough to beat the Giants. New York totaled more yards (295-240) and had 19 first downs opposite Los Angeles’ 15, but the Rams’ D was dominant in some crucial moments and bailed out a sluggish offense this time around.

Jared Goff completed 25 of 32 passes for 200 yards and one touchdown. Cooper Kupp was on the receiving end of Goff’s lone passing TD, and wide receiver finished the tilt with 69 yards on five receptions while running back Malcolm Brown had 37 yards on nine carries. On the defensive end, safety Taylor Rapp led the team with eight total tackles (seven solos).

The Rams are the 16th team in the NFL when it comes to the offense with 26.5 points per game, 14th in passing yards (255.0), 7th in rushing yards (142.3), while they have the 5th best defense that allows 20.0 points per contest.

Washington opened the season with a win over the Philadelphia Eagles, but then suffered three consecutive losses, including the most recent one to the Baltimore Ravens at home. Interestingly, Washington collected more first downs (24-18) and had just seven total yards fewer than the Ravens, but Baltimore still recorded a 31-17 victory.

Dwayne Haskins collected 32 of 45 passes for 314 yards and no touchdowns or interceptions in the process. Terry McLaurin led all receivers with 118 yards on ten receptions while running back Antonio Gibson had 46 yards and one touchdown on 13 rushes. Linebacker Jon Bostic continued with his dominant displays and posted 14 tackles (six solos) as he led the defenders from both teams.

Washington is the 30th team in the NFL when it comes to the offense with 19.8 points per game, 26th in passing yards (209.5), 30th in rushing yards (92.3), while they have the 21st defense that allows 28.0 points per contest.

Washington covered the spread only once, and it was in the season opener against Philadelphia, while Los Angeles covered the spread on two out of four games. Washington’s offense wasn’t good enough lately, and it is facing one of the best defensive teams in the NFL, so I don’t think the hosts have a lot of chances to win here, especially considering their leaky defense on the other end.

The -9 spread on the Rams doesn’t seem high at the moment, and I am backing the visitors to cover it as I expect Jared Goff to bounce back from a modest showing against the Giants and lead his team on offense with multiple passing TDs.
