Week 6 is full of exciting matchups and Sunday Night Football brings the NFC West showdown between the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers at Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco.

The 4-1 Rams are cruising and will travel to San Francisco in a great mood. On the other side, the 49ers have dropped three of their first five games in 2020, and the reigning vice-champs are already in big trouble.

I bring you the best Rams vs. 49ers betting pick for Sunday, October 18, so let’s take a closer look.

Rams vs. 49ers Odds

Rams -3.5 -110
49ers +3.5 -110
Rams to Win -180
49ers to Win +160
Over 50.5 -110
Under 50.5 -110

The 49ers have a lot of injury problems, especially on the defensive end, so they are 3.5-point home dogs in this one, according to Bovada sports.

The Rams have been playing very well so far. Their defense looks ready for another championship challenge after carrying LA to the Super Bowl LIII appearance two seasons ago. This time, the Rams want to make that final step.

LA Rams Performances

Interestingly, the Rams have recorded all their four wins against the NFC East teams (or should I say NFC Easy teams). Still, they are allowing only 18.0 points per game (3rd in the NFL), and that would be even better, but the Rams suffered a 35-32 defeat at the Buffalo Bills in Week 3.

Los Angeles bounced back with a 17-9 home victory over the New York Giants in Week 4, and the Rams tallied another win last weekend, outlasting Washington 30-10 on the road.

The Rams allowed the former Redskins to record only 108 total yards which tells you enough about their dominance. They also recorded eight sacks, so the Rams’ offense had an easy job to score more than 10 points.

LA put 30 points on the scoreboard, while Jared Goff completed 21 of his 30 passing attempts for 309 yards, two touchdowns, and one pick. The Rams are averaging 27.2 points per contest (12th) on 403.6 total yards (5th).

San Francisco 49ers Performances

The 49ers embarrassed themselves in Week 5, suffering a 43-17 defeat to the Miami Dolphins. It was an ugly performance from the very first minute, so the Phins had a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter and a 30-7 lead at halftime.

Jimmy Garoppolo returned from a two-game absence caused by an ankle injury, and he was benched in the second half. Garoppolo finished 7-of-17 for 77 yards and a couple of interceptions, but he cannot be blamed solely for a tough loss.

The 49ers’ defense is a big issue. They miss some key players, but the Niners have to do a much better job, especially their secondary that was demolished by Ryan Fitzpatrick last Sunday. Also, the Niners’ offensive line will have to improve its pass protection after allowing 18 sacks through the first five weeks.

Rams vs. 49ers Pick

The Rams look like a better team than the 49ers at the moment. However, I’ve mentioned that the Rams’ opponents were mostly some really bad teams (even San Francisco thrashed off the Giants), while the 49ers will be fired up to make amends for a humiliating loss to the Dolphins.

Therefore, I would buy a few points and take the 49ers as 7-point underdogs. This is the divisional battle, and the Niners have so much on the table after opening the season with a 2-3 record. I think they will rush a lot and keep it close enough to cover seven points.

The 49ers failed to cover in three of their last four matchups with the Rams, but they are 6-3 SU and ATS over their previous nine games against LA.
