Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Texas Rangers Pick – MLB, August 29, 2020

Before they opened a three-game home series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Texas Rangers have dropped 10 of their previous 11 games overall. They were fourth-placed in the AL West, half a game behind the Seattle Mariners, and four games behind the bottom wild card in the American League.

On the other side, the Los Angeles Dodgers entered this series as the best club in the NL West with a 24-9 record, winning 13 of their previous 15 contests overall.

The Boys in Blue head to Globe Life Field in Arlington as winners of their last five meetings with Texas excluding Friday’s opener, so I’m bringing the best Dodgers vs. Rangers betting pick for Saturday night’s clash.

Dodgers vs. Rangers Odds

Dodgers -1.5 +130
Rangers +1.5 -150
Dodgers to Win -145
Rangers to Win +135
Over 8.0 -130
Under 8.0 +110

This will be the clash between the most efficient and the most inefficient team in the majors, so it’s no surprise the Dodgers are firm favorites away from home. The Rangers will send their top ace to the mound, so the bookies set the line on the totals at exactly eight runs.

Dodgers vs. Rangers Preview

The Dodgers’ mighty offense scores 5.70 runs per game, while they are third in the majors in slugging percentage (.473). The Blue Crew tallied the most home runs (63) and RBI (178), too.

On the other side, the Rangers score only 3.60 runs per contest on .208 batting average (30th) and .337 slugging percentage (also 30th). Despite their horrible offense, the Rangers are pretty much alive in the playoff race.

Lance Lynn will be their greatest weapon Saturday against the Dodgers. The 33-year-old righty is 4-0 on the season and owns a sparkly 1.59 ERA, 0.86 WHIP, and 50/14 K/BB ratio in 45.1 innings of work. Lynn is 3-1 with a 3.69 ERA in seven starts against the Dodgers in his career.

Ross Stripling will toe the slab for the visitors, and the 30-year-old right-hander is 3-1 on the season. He has a 5.46 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, and 24/8 K/BB ratio, and Stripling has allowed the most home runs in the majors this term (10). Ross will get the Rangers for the first time in his career.

Dodgers vs. Rangers Pick

Ross Stripling is arguably the weakest link in the Dodgers’ terrifying rotation, so give me the Rangers to win this battle at some tempting +135 odds. I know it sounds ridiculous, but the Dodgers went bonkers and will have to slow down eventually.

The Rangers cannot get a better chance than this one with Stripling on the mound, but Lance Lynn will have to put on another strong performance to help his team beat the best team in baseball.

  • Rangers to Win
