The upcoming three-game series at Petco Park in San Diego will be a joy to watch, as the two best NL West teams take on each other for the final time this shortened MLB season.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have won four of their previous seven encounters with the San Diego Padres in 2020. They are 12-5 over their last 17 meetings with the Padres and 11-3 in their previous 14 visits to Petco Park.

The Dodgers are the best team in the majors. They were 32-14 on Sunday, but the Padres were just three games behind, so the next three games in San Diego will have a lot on the table for both clubs.

I’m bringing you the best Dodgers vs. Padres betting pick for the opening contest Monday night with the first pitch at 9:10 PM ET.

Dodgers vs. Padres Odds

Dodgers -1.5 +130
Padres +1.5 -150
Dodgers to Win -130
Padres to Win +110
Over 8.0 -120
Under 8.0 +100

We will see a great matchup on the mound, as Clayton Kershaw gets the ball for the Dodgers, while Dinelson Lamet takes the hill for the Padres.

Of course, the Dodgers are slight favorites, according to Bovada sports and other online betting sites.

Dodgers vs. Padres Preview

Both Dodgers and Padres are among the best offensive teams in baseball this season. The Dodgers are third in runs scored per game (5.63), 11th in batting average (.253), and fourth in slugging percentage (.472).

On the other side, the Padres average 5.74 runs per game (2nd in the majors) on a .264 batting average (5th) and .487 slugging percentage. They have the second-best OPS of .827, while the Dodgers are fifth with a .809 OPS.

Furthermore, these two divisional foes lead the MLB in home runs, as the Dodgers hit 87 round-trippers, while the Padres smashed 80.

Clayton Kershaw will get the Padres for the first time this term, and the 32-year-old southpaw is 21-6 with a 1.98 ERA in 39 starts against San Diego in his career. Kershaw is 5-1 with a 1.98 ERA and 0.78 WHIP in seven starts this season, but he’s had some problems last time out, allowing four runs in five innings of work in a no-decision against Arizona.

Dinelson Lamet has dominated the Rockies in his previous start, pitching six shutout frames while striking out 11. The righty is 2-1 in nine starts this season, sporting a sparkly 2.24 ERA and 0.92 WHIP.

Lamet met the Dodgers once in August and tossed 5.2 innings in a no-decision, yielding a couple of runs and hits while punching out just two. He’s 0-3 with a 4.39 ERA in five career starts against the Blue Crew.

Dodgers vs. Padres Betting Pick

I expect to see a very tight clash and would avoid the side bet. Both Clayton Kershaw and Dinelson Lamet have been excellent in 2020, so I’m going with the under on the totals despite the fact that both teams are terrific offensively.

The Padres are just 7-8 against the lefties, and if Kershaw put on a strong performance, the hosts will have a tough time to hit the ball well. On the other side, Lamet will be fired up to prove his worth against the Dodgers’ powerful lineup.
