Los Angeles Clippers vs. Sacramento Kings Pick – Wednesday, December 22nd, 2021

| December 22, 2021 10:34 am PDT

The Clippers and Kings are facing off this Wednesday for a Western Pacific Division showdown. Both of these haven’t gotten off to the best start to their 2021-22 NBA season, but there are a lot of games left.

The Clippers are a playoff ready team, but are missing their best player in Kawhi Leonard who would take them over the top. The Kings are a young and underrated team who can very well make this a close game.

Let’s get into the matchup breakdown and my final prediction for the game.

Odds for Clippers vs. Kings

Los Angeles Clippers -5.5-118
Sacramento Kings +5.5-102
Over 219-110
Under 219-110

Just looking at the odds we can see that the Clippers are the road favorites. They are also slightly favored to cover their spread more than the Kings are and I think that’s fair.

The over/under total is on the higher end at 219, but both of these teams play pretty fast and that should be accurate.

You can find these exact odds on BetOnline, so head over there to place your bets.

Why the Clippers Will Win

The Clippers should have the edge in this game, but can they cover their spread? They aren’t at their highest potential with Kawhi Leonard out and their record ATS shows that. They are currently 13-18 ATS so far this season, which is tied for bottom 5 in the league.

6 of those games they were without their second best player in Paul George, so I would take that into consideration as well. He will be back in the lineup for this one against the Kings, so they should be in good shape.

The Clippers as a team are very good defensively, but lack a little on the offensive side. They rank 4th in the league in Defensive Rating, while ranking 25th in Offensive Rating. The Kings are basically the opposite in those ratings. They rank 13th in Offensive Rating, but fall way behind at 28th in Defensive Rating.

This game is going to come down to who has the better strength, the Clippers’ defense, or the Kings’ offense? So far this season, the Clippers’ defense has been better.

The Kings are also very thin in depth chart terms. They will be without their best player in De’Aaron Fox again, while Marvin Bagley, Alex Len, Davion Mitchell, and more will join him.

The Clippers can take full advantage of the Kings’ vulnerability right now and that should give them a strong chance to win this game and cover their spread.

Why the Kings Will Win

As I just said, the Kings are very thin right now. That will be something they have to overcome in this game, but they are capable. Tyrese Haliburton is one of the rising stars in the NBA and he has stepped up since Fox has been out.

Fox has missed the last three games and Haliburton has responded by averaging 24 points per game. He has also been very impressive in the playmaking category as well, averaging just over 10 assists per game in his last three.

Haliburton is certainly capable of having another solid game, but the Clippers’ defense is better than most. Other players will have to help carry the load for the Kings.

Richaun Holmes is one of their best players and should be returning to the lineup from his 7 game absence. He is a big impact player for this Kings’ team and his return should be a nice boost for them.

Other players like Buddy Hield and Harrison Barnes are capable of quality games as well. They might have injury problems right now, but I wouldn’t count them out just yet.

My Pick for Clippers vs. Kings

Both of these teams struggle against the spread. The Clippers are 13-18, while the Kings are barely better than them at 14-18. I would be more comfortable picking the Clippers moneyline (-225), but that isn’t the most profitable.

Looking at the over/under total, we can see that most games go under between these two teams. The Kings are split between over/under totals at 16-16, but the Clippers have gone under in 18 out of their 31 games. I can see the under being a strong bet here.

The return of Paul George and Richuan Holmes could tilt this game either way, but I am going to roll with the Clippers spread. Bet along with me on the best NBA betting sites.
