Lokomotiv Moscow vs. Bayern Munich – Champions League, October 27, 2020
Bayern Munich continues the defense of their Champions League crown with a potentially awkward trip to Lokomotiv Moscow’s RZD Arena on Tuesday, October 27.
The German side already has a two-point lead at the top of Group A after thrashing Atletico Madrid 4-0 on Matchday 1, while the Russians sit second following a draw with Red Bull Salzburg.
Can Lokomotiv upset the odds against the reigning champions? Keep reading to see my Lokomotiv Moscow vs. Bayern Munich prediction and betting pick.
Lokomotiv Moscow vs. Bayern Munich Odds
The bookies haven’t sprung any surprises with their odds for this clash. As you can see, the price for the Bayern Munich win (1.20) is very low. But in all honesty, anything other than a Bayern win would be a huge shock.
Lokomotiv Moscow (13.75) may fancy their chances of sitting back and snatching a draw (7.75). But with the firepower that Bayern possesses, it will be a miracle if the Russians prevent the Germans from scoring.
Lokomotiv’s domestic four-game winning streak was ended on Saturday as Marko Nikolic’s men handed struggling Rotor their very first victory of the season. Rotor had failed to win any of their opening 11 games this term, but despite enjoying a massive 76% possession and recording 20 shots, Lokomotiv was beaten 2-1 by the minnows.
The capital club currently sits fourth in the Russian Premier League, six points behind league-leader Spartak Moscow. Nikolic’s men may boast the joint-best defensive record in the division, but they are also joint-lowest scorers in the top ten.
Having faced 15 shots against RB Salzburg on Matchday 1, it could be argued that Lokomotiv was lucky to earn a Champions League point last week. However, goals from Vitaly Lisakovich and Eder saw the Russians claim a draw.
Needless to say, Lokomotiv will need to play far better to get anything from Tuesday’s clash with the reigning champs.
In 2019-20, Robert Lewandowski became the first player in Bundesliga history to score 10 goals in the opening six games.— Squawka Football (@Squawka) October 24, 2020
In 2020-21, Robert Lewandowski has just become the first player in Bundesliga history to score 10 goals in the opening five games.

Remarkably, Bayern Munich scored over 2.5 goals for the sixth game in a row on Saturday. You probably won’t be surprised to hear that Robert Lewandowski netted a hat-trick as the Bavarians crushed Eintracht Frankfurt 5-0.
Following four goals against Hertha and a brace against Arminia, the relentless Polish striker is now the first player in history to score ten goals in the opening five rounds of a Bundesliga campaign.
But as we know, Bayern isn’t just a one-man show. Thomas Muller (five goals, five assists), Leon Goretzka (three goals, two assists), and Serge Gnabry (three goals, one assist) have all contributed this season, so Lokomotiv is likely to struggle.
Hansi Flick’s men may be conceding more goals than they would like at the moment, but I can’t see low-scoring Lokomotiv causing Bayern’s backline too many problems.
Lokomotiv Moscow vs. Bayern Munich Betting Pick
Bayern Munich to Win1.20
Considering Bayern’s strength, I don’t think odds of 1.20 for the away win are actually too bad. If this game was being played in the Germany, the price for the Bayern win would definitely be a low lower, so this I believe this opportunity is worth taking advantage of.
Lokomotiv is solid defensively, but after scoring four goals against a well-organized Atletico outfit last week, Bayern shouldn’t struggle to break the Russians down.
