Liverpool vs. Tottenham Hotspur – EPL, December 16, 2020

The two sides at the top of the EPL come together on Wednesday as champions Liverpool host league leaders Spurs at Anfield.

This will be a good test of how far Jose Mourinho’s side can go this season – and also how much Liverpool might be able to reclaim the form of the last campaign.

Liverpool vs. Spurs Odds

Liverpool to Win-128
The Draw+270
Tottenham Hotspur to Win+320

It is very interesting to see that BetOnline has made Liverpool the big favorite to win this one even though Spurs is currently top of the table.

It’s not really a surprise because of Liverpool’s incredible home record – but the price for a draw might be worth a look.

Match Preview

Liverpool has not been the all-conquering team that it was last season, but there were not many that had Jurgen Klopp’s men to only come away from Craven Cottage with a point at the weekend. Fulham has improved, but a fairly straightforward victory was still anticipated.

But there is likely to be more results like that this season as the EPL develops into a close-run thing at the top of the league. There are still a whole host of injury problems at Liverpool – and new signing Diogo Jota is the most recent addition to the list. But there will still be a lot of talent to call on.

Spurs had its own surprising result at the weekend, as it was only able to come away from Selhurst Park with a point after drawing with Crystal Palace. Tottenham seemed to have real difficulty dealing with the attacking movements of Wilfried Zaha and Eberechie Eze – and that poses a problem ahead of this game.

Liverpool is not exactly short of a fast, attacking player itself and the Spurs defense could be in for a busy evening if it doesn’t start off well. It may go against Mourinho’s usual tactics, but it might be an idea to play to the front foot on Wednesday, taking the game to Liverpool and not allowing its opponent to develop the play.

Liverpool vs. Spurs Betting Pick

  • Liverpool to Win

I was hoping that BetOnline might get a little carried away with Liverpool’s draw with Fulham and offer an enticing price for the home win here. But the odds are far more conservative than that, so the home win bet will not bring a crazy amount of winning returns.

I still think it is the way to go, though.
