Liga MX Matchday 13 Predictions and Best Bets – October 14-17

Domestic soccer in Mexico returns this week following the international break. Those who bet on Liga MX will be pleased to learn that Matchday 13 spans four days, as all 18 teams return to action.
Queretaro and Club Tijuana get Matchday 13 underway on Thursday, October 14. With both clubs in the bottom three, the importance of that clash cannot be overstated.
Elsewhere, first-place Club America visits Atletico San Luis on Saturday before Guadalajara and Toluca wrap up the weekend’s action on Sunday, October 17.
Right, it’s time for my Liga MX Matchday 13 predictions, best bets, and top picks.
Queretaro to Beat Club Tijuana
It’s safe to say that Queretaro and Club Tijuana are not where they want to be right now.
Queretaro sits third from bottom in the table on 11 points, while Tijuana is rock bottom of the standings – four points behind Thursday’s opponent.
Los Xolos picked up their first win of the Apertura campaign last month, beating Santos Laguna 2-1. Since then, however, they have registered one draw and three losses.
With home-field advantage on their side, I expect a rejuvenated Queretaro outfit to claim all three points when struggling Tijuana comes to town.
Necaxa and Puebla to Draw
Following Queretaro and Tijuana’s basement battle, Necaxa hosts Puebla on Friday for another bottom-five clash.
Both teams have won just one of their previous five games, too, underlining their similarities.
There is very little to separate Necaxa and Puebla at the moment, so I wouldn’t be surprised if this encounter ended all square.
Atlas to Beat Mazatlan
Atlas find themselves second in the table – three points behind Club America and one point ahead of Toluca – after winning four of their previous five outings.
The Red and Blacks made a slow start to the season, claiming two victories in their opening seven matches. However, they have turned the corner recently and will now be confident of beating any opponent.
Not only have they slipped to thirteenth in the standings, but they also have the second-worst defensive record in the division. It goes without saying that Mazatlan is not in good form.
With Atlas flying high in second place and Mazatlan languishing near the bottom, the visitors should beat the hosts on Friday.
More Liga MX Predictions for Matchday 13
Having covered three games in detail, here is the remainder of my predictions for Liga MX Matchday 13.
- Monterrey to Beat Club Leon
- Pachuca to Beat Santos Laguna
- Club America to Beat Atletico San Luis
- Cruz Azul and Tigres UANL to Draw
- Juarez to Beat Pumas UNAM
- Guadalajara and Toluca to Draw
Monterrey should beat off-form Club Leon on Saturday. After all, Leon heads into Matchday 13 on a six-match winless streak in Liga MX, while Rayados have won three of their previous four games.
I also expect a revived Pachuca to see off Santos Laguna. Pachuca has picked up two wins and a draw from the past three matchdays, while Santos has only managed to win one of their past four outings.
Elsewhere, I can see sixth-place Cruz Azul and fifth-place Tigres drawing. I’m also confident that Juarez will beat Pumas, as the visitors haven’t won any of their past five Liga MX clashes.
Given that Guadalajara and Toluca head into Matchday 13 on three-game winless streaks, they are likely to produce a tense and cagey affair.
Top Picks for Liga MX Matchday 13
Let’s wrap things up by checking out my top Liga MX picks for Matchday 13.
- Queretaro to Beat Club Tijuana (2.10)
- Juarez to Beat Pumas UNAM (3.00)
- Guadalajara vs. Toluca – Over 2.5 Goals (2.20)
In my eyes, backing Queretaro to beat Tijuana is a no-brainer. While Queretaro has really turned things around in recent weeks, Tijuana remains rooted to the foot of the table, having lost three of their past four outings.
When you look at the five-game form table, Juarez is sitting pretty in second place. Los Bravos have taken ten points from a possible 15, while Pumas have only managed to pick up three points in that time.
My final Liga MX pick for Matchday 13 concerns Guadalajara vs. Toluca.
Not only are the Red Devils the top scorers in the league, but they also have the joint-third worst defensive record. Eight of their 12 games this season have produced at least three goals, so backing the over 2.5 goals market for this game makes perfect sense.
