Liga MX Matchday 11 Predictions and Picks – September 28-29 (2021)

We have a condensed Liga MX schedule to bet on this week, as Matchday 11 of the 2021 Apertura comprises just six games.
On Tuesday, September 28, fourth-bottom Necaxa and second-bottom Club Tijuana get the midweek action underway at Estadio Victoria, with both sides desperate for points.
There are four more matches taking place on Tuesday before Queretaro and Guadalajara wrap up Matchday 11 on Wednesday, September 29.
Here is the Liga MX Matchday 11 fixture list in full.
- Club Necaxa vs. Club Tijuana
- Mazatlan vs. FC Juarez
- Atlas vs. Club Puebla
- Pachuca vs. Club America
- Atletico San Luis vs. Tigres UANL
- Queretaro vs. Guadalajara
Below, I provide my predictions for Liga MX Matchday 11 – sharing my thoughts on all six games. Once my Liga MX predictions are made, I share the top Liga MX betting picks for Matchday 11.
Let’s get the ball rolling with my Club Necaxa vs. Club Tijuana prediction.
Club Tijuana to Beat Club Necaxa
As I mentioned above, Necaxa and Tijuana will be eager to avoid defeat on Tuesday.
Although Necaxa has won three games this season, seven losses have prevented the Aguascalientes outfit from climbing the standings.
Robert Siboldi’s men, on the other hand, have only managed to win one of their ten Liga MX outings this term – registering four draws and five losses in the process.
That said, Tijuana is enjoying something of an upturn at the moment. While Los Xolos have lost just one of their previous four matches, Necaxa heads into Matchday 11 on the back of four consecutive defeats.
Tijuana currently trails Necaxa by two points, but I’m confident the visitors will leave Estadio Victoria with all three points on Tuesday – leapfrogging the hosts in the process.
FC Juarez to Beat Mazatlan
Eleventh-place Mazatlan (2-5-3) and twelfth-place Juarez (3-2-5) are locked on 11 points in the table – and they also boast an identical goal difference (–5).
Considering those statistics, you might think the two sides are destined to produce a draw on Tuesday. However, when you look at the contrasting form of the teams, all the signs point towards a Juarez win.
On the flip side, Los Bravos have failed to win any of their last eight matches. They have recorded five draws and three losses since their last victory, which came over Pachuca back in July.
You probably won’t be surprised to learn that I’m backing Juarez to secure a fourth straight win against struggling Mazatlan.
Atlas to Beat Club Puebla
Despite seeing just 28% possession, Atlas managed to claim a hugely impressive 2-0 victory over Leon last time out. Los Zorros even prevented Leon from registering a single shot on target, underling their defensive solidity.
Diego Cocca’s men have now achieved six shutouts in ten games this season, conceding a measly four goals along the way. As a result, they boast the best defensive record in Liga MX.
Puebla, by contrast, has one of the worst defensive records in the division. Los Camoteros have let in 13 goals this term, meaningly only five teams have conceded more.
Although they head into Matchday 11 on a four-game unbeaten run, they have drawn each of their previous three outings. In fact, they have only managed to win one of their ten Apertura matches in 2021.
Holding a ten-point lead over Puebla, Atlas should cruise to a comfortable victory on home soil.
Club America to Beat Pachuca
Club America maintained their lead at the Liga MX summit with a goalless draw against Guadalajara at the weekend. Although they racked up 17 shots – seven of which hit the target – the Eagles were unable to find a way through.
Still, they find themselves atop the standings after losing just one of their opening ten games this season.
Pachuca had lost five of their seven games before beating Necaxa 1-0 in the previous round. Aviles Hurtado scored the only goal of the game, snapping his team’s three-match winless streak in the process.
There is no hiding from the fact, however, that Los Tuzos find themselves 12 points behind first-place America. With that in mind, the Eagles are likely to claim all three points here.
Atletico San Luis and Tigres UANL to Draw
Just two points separate fifth-place Atletico San Luis (4-4-2) and eighth-place Tigres UANL (3-5-2) in the current standings. That tells you everything you need to know about this matchup.
Los Atleticos have lost just one of their previous six outings and have won two of their last three. The Tigers, meanwhile, have only lost one of their past eight Liga MX matches.
German Berterame is leading the way for Atletico. The Argentine bagged a brace in last weekend’s 2-1 victory over Toluca, taking his tally to eight goals in ten Apertura games this year.
As for Tigres, they continue to benefit from Nicolas Lopez’s contributions. The Uruguayan has notched six goals and two assists across eight Apertura appearances in 2021.
There really is very little between these two sides at the moment, so I can them dishing up a draw.
Guadalajara to Beat Queretaro
Having started the Apertura with a seven-game winless run, Queretaro finally picked up their first win of the campaign a fortnight ago – dispatching Necaxa 3-0.
However, they swiftly returned to losing ways last time out. Leonardo Ramos’ men suffered a 2-0 defeat to Cruz Azul in their previous match, meaning they sit one point adrift at the bottom.
Further up the standings, Guadalajara is eight points ahead of Queretaro in ninth place.
This should be a routine victory for Guadalajara. Queretaro are in a real mess at the moment, while Las Chivas haven’t tasted defeat for over a month.

Club Necaxa vs. Club Tijuana
Necaxa (2.10) is the favorite to win this one, leaving Tijuana (3.30) as the bookies’ outsider. However, I believe the over 2.5 goals market is the best value bet for this matchup.
Seven of Necaxa’s ten Apertura games have produced at least three goals this year, while Tijuana has been involved in five matches in which over 2.5 goals have been scored.
Both sides have a terrible defensive record, too, so we are likely to see plenty of goals at Estadio Victoria.
- Pick: Over 2.5 Goals (2.00)
Mazatlan vs. FC Juarez
Juarez (3.40) is on a roll right now. Not only have San Jose’s men won each of their last three outings, but they have managed to beat Cruz Azul, Club Leon, and Atletico San Luis in the process. Pretty impressive, right?
Mazatlan (2.05), on the other hand, comes into Matchday 11 on an eight-game winless streak. Needless to say, Los Bravos are not in a good place at the moment.
- Pick: FC Juarez to Win (3.40)
Queretaro vs. Guadalajara
Guadalajara has picked up two wins and three draws across their past five matches and even managed to hold Club America – the current league leader – to a goalless draw on Sunday.
On the flip side, Queretaro has only picked up one win all season. Ramos’ men have also lost four of their previous five games, so Guadalajara shouldn’t struggle to claim all three points on Wednesday.
- Pick: Guadalajara to Win (2.45)
