LG Twins vs Doosan Bears – KBO (July 9, 2021)

Many KBO games scheduled for Friday are under threat for various reasons, but the clash between the LG Twins and the Doosan Bears is one of the few that should proceed as expected.

The weather forecasts suggest we won’t see any rain, and none of the teams were hit by the health protocol issues experienced by other organizations.

The LG Twins were leading the league like ten days ago, but their form recently has been inconsistent. The offense has been slightly better at times, and when the defense delivers too, the Twins are very hard to beat.

At the same time, if the pitchers fail to perform well, LG struggles big time. The team has a 5-3 record against the Doosan Bears in 2021, and every victory so far has been the product of a solid defensive performance.

Casey Kelly was the main reason behind that twice already, and I’m sure he will be looking to add a third victory against this opponent. If he helps his team build a decent lead, the best bullpen in the country surely can close the game against the Bears.

The Doosan Bears played in the Korean Series last year and won the league in 2019. Everyone expected them to compete once again, but this season has been a disaster. The team is seventh in the table with a below .500 record after more than 100 games. It looks like the Bears might miss the KBO playoffs this time around, and that’s a big surprise.

Doosan still has time to turn it around, and the question is if the defense can improve. I don’t think this will happen in this game, though, not when a guy with a 9.82 ERA is about to start.

The offense has been struggling too recently, and it will be hard to win against one of the best teams in the country.

You probably know where this one is going at this point. The Bears have been way too inconsistent, and they are starting a pitcher that simply can’t be trusted.

The LG Twins should suffocate the opposition and find just enough runs to win this clash rather comfortably.
