Leon Edwards vs. Nate Diaz – UFC 263

| June 11, 2021 7:12 am PDT

Fan-favorite Nate Diaz returns to the cage against the tough and ready Leon Edwards this Saturday, June 12, at UFC 263 in Arizona.

I’ll be looking at the odds and best bets for Edwards vs. Diaz today to help you make money betting on the fight. So whether you are opting for the Englishman or the American, you will have a better idea of how this scrap should go by the time you have read this preview.

Alongside the odds and best bets for the fight, I’ll also provide my predictions and betting pick for Edwards vs. Diaz. In doing so, I’ll pinpoint what will separate these two warriors on the night and how the winner of the fight will get it done.

Let’s get going!

Edwards or Diaz – Who Wins?

  • Leon Edwards by Decision

I’m predicting a unanimous decision victory for Leon Edwards against Nate Diaz this Saturday.

The Stockton man has brought fight fans a lot of joy over the years, but he’s not on the same level as “Rocky” right now. In fact, I would go as far as to say that Diaz’s best days are well behind him, and he will need a big performance to stay within touching distance of the Brit.

More on that later. First, let’s see the latest odds for the fight and the best bets you can place on UFC 263’s major welterweight scrap.

Latest Odds for Edwards vs. Diaz

Leon Edwards to Win-525
Nate Diaz to Win+365

Edwards’ odds to beat Diaz have shrunk from -425 to -525 in just over a month.

It’s clear to see that while the Stockton bad boy is still a popular draw, shrewd betting fans aren’t willing to take a risk on him against someone as formidable as Edwards.

I touched upon this briefly in my Edwards vs. Diaz odds and analysis piece back in May, before the fight was pushed back to this Saturday’s slot. I guess the oddsmakers are clearly backing the Englishman to come through with the win.

Diaz’s odds haven’t changed much at all, with a slight move from +350 to +365.

I can’t justify betting on Diaz to beat Edwards, given how significantly the stylistic edge bends in favor of the Birmingham-native.

Sure, you can never count Diaz out. But it will take a brave man to bet big money on Nate coming out of this one with the win.

Best Bets for Diaz vs. Edwards

Leon Edwards to Win by Decision+120
Fight to Go the Distance-110

I can’t believe just how good the odds are for Edwards to win by decision.

The Englishman takes an eight-fight win streak into the cage on Saturday, with six of them coming by way of decision. Diaz, notoriously tough to knock out or submit, has dropped 9 of his 12 losses on the scorecards.

If you’re not keen on Edwards winning by decision, take the fight to go the distance at odds of -110. I can’t see this one ending inside the distance unless it’s down to a doctor’s stoppage.

Regardless, these are the two best bets for Edwards vs. Diaz you can place online.

Why Edwards Beats Diaz

It’s not a championship bout, but Edwards vs. Diaz is scheduled for five rounds.

Both men are well-conditioned for the championship rounds, which gives this scrap a nice flavor. After all, we could see the Englishman adopting a more conservative approach than he might if it was a regular three-stanza affair, and this could make for an interesting back and forth in the early stages of the fight.

But when all is said and done, I expect Edwards to emerge from this fight as the winner.

He is the younger, fresher, and better-rounded athlete of the two. He has the momentum behind him and will, of course, earn a shot at Kamaru Usman’s welterweight title with a win against Diaz. Something that should be more than achievable for Rocky.

In case you missed it the first time, my betting pick for Edwards for Diaz is a unanimous decision win for the Brit.
