Leicester City vs. West Bromwich Albion – English Premier League, April 22, 2021

West Brom looks to keep its chances of an improbable great escape alive as it takes on Leicester at the King Power Stadium on Thursday.

The home side has just booked an FA Cup final appearance and might think its top four position is safe enough to allow West Brom a chance here.

Leicester City vs. West Bromwich Albion Odds

Leicester City to Win -172
The Draw+305
West Bromwich Albion to Win+450

The bookmakers fancy Leicester to earn another three points here, but it is likely to be the West Brom players that are more up for this encounter. There will be a belief that the Baggies can stay up now, even with the points gap at the bottom.

The odds for a draw or even an away win have to be considered here.

Match Preview

Brendan Rodgers is about to enjoy another Wembley outing as his Leicester side gets ready to take on Chelsea in May. But he needs to concentrate on the Premier League until then to ensure that his side stays safely in the top four and doesn’t allow anyone else to take its Champions League spot.

A lack of goals from the main man Jamie Vardy will be a worry for Rodgers, but that has been tempered somewhat by the form of strike partner Kelechi Iheanacho.

The Nigeria international has scored ten goals in the last seven games in all competitions and is sure to test a brittle West Brom defense on Thursday.

Leicester has not really been enjoying itself in the Premier League in recent weeks, though. There have been home defeats to Arsenal and Manchester City and some poor results from games against Burnley and West Ham. The Hammers led by three goals before a late comeback in that last fixture – and Leicester will need to be on top form here to ensure that West Brom doesn’t get off to a good start.

The Baggies didn’t play at the weekend but have won their last two games – against Chelsea and Southampton – by a combined scoreline of 8-2. That is a complete turnaround from the rest of the campaign, but it has given the players the confidence to go to Leicester and expect another victory.

My Prediction and Betting Pick

  • The Draw

After criticizing Allardyce for the majority of his spell at West Brom, I am now coming around to think that he might just be able to pull this off.

I definitely think that West Brom has a better chance than Fulham of staying up now. Even if it is not ultimately successful, I feel as though it will win some surprising points before the end of the season.
