Leicester City vs. Manchester City – English Premier League, April 3

| April 1, 2021 12:11 pm PDT

It is a shame that Manchester City already looks to have the EPL title sewn up this season, as this game would have a lot more riding on it if the points gap at the top of the table were closer.

Leicester will still be wary of losing out on a Champions League spot though, so we should still have a very interesting game on our hands at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.

Manchester City has been almost unstoppable in all competitions since the turn of the year, but I am still a little surprised at how long the odds are for Leicester to win this game on its own pitch.

I think this will be a very close game – and there will be more than a few that are tempted by the odds for the draw or the home win.

Leicester City vs. Manchester City Match Preview

Jamie Vardy has not scored since the middle of February, even though he has played every single minute of Leicester’s Premier League fixtures since then. But his goal drought has been offset somewhat by the remarkable form of Kelechi Iheanacho, who has found the net on seven occasions since Vardy’s last goal. He will also be keen to continue that goal spree against his former club if given a chance this weekend.

Brendan Rodgers is likely to go with Vardy up front on his own, however, as Leicester will probably be missing both Harvey Barnes and James Maddison in the middle. The England internationals have made a huge contribution to the Foxes’ success this season and will be sorely missed.

Pep Guardiola will be expecting his players to take advantage of Leicester’s injury worries as they look to continue their progression on four fronts this year.

Only Manchester United has beaten the Sky Blues since the end of November, and the league title looks virtually assured now.

Manchester City will need to ensure that it isn’t distracted by the big games in the EFL Cup, FA Cup, and Champions League this month. With Sergio Aguero announcing that he will be leaving the club in the summer, there is sure to be a renewed effort for the Argentinian to leave on a high. Leicester might pay the price this weekend.

Leicester City vs. Manchester City Betting Pick

  • Manchester City to Win

Although I am very tempted by Leicester’s favorable odds to win this one, the number of injuries that the home side will be suffering from puts me off. The Foxes have shown that they can overcome those setbacks against some of the weaker sides in the EPL – but beating Manchester City is a whole other difficulty level.
