Leicester City vs. Brighton & Hove Albion – FA Cup, February 10, 2021

| February 8, 2021 10:16 am PDT

Leicester hosts Brighton at the King Power Stadium on Wednesday, February 10, for one of the four all-EPL ties taking place in the FA Cup fifth round this week.

The two sides are currently separated by 18 points in the Premier League table, with the Foxes battling for Champions League soccer and the Seagulls aiming to steer clear of the relegation zone.

I assess the bookmakers’ odds before sharing my Leicester City vs. Brighton & Hove Albion prediction and betting pick.

Leicester City vs. Brighton & Hove Albion Odds

Leicester City to Win1.83
The Draw3.60
Brighton & Hove Albion to Win4.00

It’s fair to say that Leicester (1.83) is enjoying a far more successful season than Brighton (4.00), and the teams’ contrasting fortunes are reflected in the odds for this match.

Graham Potter’s men have picked up a number of positive results lately, yet the Foxes are expected to end the Seagulls’ FA Cup hopes on Wednesday.

Leicester City vs. Brighton & Hove Albion Preview

Manchester City supporters will tell you otherwise, but the Foxes will feel that they are still well and truly in the hunt for the Premier League title this season.

With over half of the season gone, Brendan Rodgers’ side sits seven points behind Man City. Of course, it will be difficult to close that gap. But Leicester will surely be confident of keeping the pressure of the frontrunners.

Despite facing two tricky Championship tests, the Foxes have made light work of their FA Cup opponents this term. After seeing off Stoke City (4-0), Leicester beat Brentford (3-1) in the previous round.

Those two victories mean that Rodgers’ men have only lost one of their last 13 matches in all competitions, with eight wins and four draws coming during that period.

Despite dominating possession and recording 13 shots last weekend, the Foxes were held to a goalless draw by Wolves in their previous outing. If they perform at the same level on Wednesday, they should be able to get the better of Brighton.

The Seagulls only managed to win two of their opening 18 EPL games this term, although eight draws in that time kept the club afloat. But they have recently enjoyed a spectacular turnaround.

A five-game unbeaten streak (3 wins, 2 draws) has seen Brighton open up a healthy ten-point lead over the bottom three in the Premier League, making things look a lot more promising for the south coast side.

Graham Potters’ men have claimed some notable scalps, too. After beating Leeds, the Seagulls secured a hard-fought home win over Tottenham before clinching a memorable victory over Liverpool at Anfield.

However, Brighton required a penalty shootout to edge past fourth-tier Newport County in the FA Cup third round, with a narrow 2-1 win over third-tier Blackpool coming in the previous round.

Considering those results, it’s safe to say that Potter isn’t prioritizing the FA Cup this season.

Leicester City vs. Brighton & Hove Albion Pick

  • Leicester City to Win

In my eyes, odds of 1.83 for the Foxes to beat a team sitting 12 places below them in the Premier League table are definitely worth taking advantage of.

Leicester’s strength in depth has already enabled the team to qualify for the Europa League knockout stages this term, and I can see Rodgers’ side going deep into the FA Cup, too.
