Leicester City vs. Braga – Europa League, November 5, 2020

| November 4, 2020 3:57 am PDT

Leicester faces the toughest test of their Europa League credentials this week as Portuguese side Braga visits the King Power Stadium on Thursday, November 5.

The two frontrunners in Group G have both picked up maximum points from their opening two games, while AEK Athens and Zorya Luhansk already appear to be cut adrift at the bottom.

You can find my Leicester City vs. Braga pick and prediction below.

Leicester City vs. Braga Odds

Leicester City to Win 1.76
The Draw 3.55
Braga to Win 4.55

In all honesty, I was expecting the odds gap to be slightly smaller for this matchup. Don’t get me wrong, Leicester (1.76) deserves the favorite tag, but the price for the Braga win (4.55) seems unusually steep here. Even the odds for the draw (3.55) are pretty high.

Let’s take a closer look at the teams and assess whether it is worth betting against the Foxes.

Leicester City vs. Braga Preview

Leicester is on a roll right now!

The English side has won each of their previous four outings in all competitions, with Europa League victories over Zorya Luhansk (3-0) and AEK Athens (2-1) putting the club joint-top of Group G.

The Foxes claimed a comfortable victory on Matchday 1, although they were made to work for last week’s win. Goals from Jamie Vardy and Hamza Choudhury gave Leicester a strong first-half advantage in Greece, but AEK rallied after the break and could have snatched a draw.

Following a 1-0 victory over Arsenal two weekends ago, Brendan Rodgers’ men crushed Leeds United 4-1 on Monday, moving second in the Premier League table. Vardy got on the scoresheet for the third game running, while a Youri Tielemans brace and a goal from Harvey Barnes capped off an outstanding team performance.

Roma loanee Cengiz Under is also beginning to show what he is capable of. The winger is yet to score for his new club, but he has assisted each of Vardy’s last two EPL goals. The addition of Under has only improved Leicester’s free-flowing forward line.

If Leicester’s recent run of results is impressive, then Braga’s six-game winning streak is immense!

Carlos Carvalhal’s men have won each of their previous four Primeira Liga outings, as well as claiming victories over AEK Athens (3-0) and Zorya Luhansk (2-1) in the Europa League.

The top end of the Portuguese top-flight is pretty congested at the moment, but Braga is doing their best to keep pace with the early frontrunners. As things stand, the Archbishops are sandwiched between fourth-place Porto and second-place Benfica, and that is not a bad place to be.

With three goals and three assists to his name this term, Galeno is Braga’s main attacking threat. But the team’s recent success is a result of an outstanding defensive record. Indeed, Carvalhal’s men have kept four clean sheets in their last six outings.

Leicester City vs. Braga Pick

  • The Draw

The price for the Leicester win is pretty good here, but considering Braga’s recent form, I would like the odds for the home victory to be a bit higher. The Foxes have been flying lately, but let’s not forget that Braga is also enjoying an excellent run.

Ultimately, I believe the draw offers the best value for this matchup. I can see Braga’s resolute backline frustrating Leicester.
