Leicester City vs. Aston Villa Betting Preview – EPL, October 18, 2020
Two clubs that not many EPL fans would have expected to be in the top four going into the international break meet on Sunday.
Both Leicester and Villa have some very exciting attacking players, so this could be one of the games of the weekend in the English top flight.
Leicester City vs. Aston Villa Odds
Leicester has started the season in the same manner as last year so it is no surprise that BetOnline has made the Foxes favorite to win this one in their own stadium. But the home defeat to West Ham just before the break was a huge blow and if Brendan Rodgers has not been able to raise his team again the draw bet could be of interest.
Leicester was desperately unlucky not to finish in the top four last season, losing out to Manchester United on the final day of the campaign. It does seem as though it is adamant that it won’t be caught in the same way this season. The first three games have brought some excellent results – especially the big win against City – but the most recent result was a shock.
It would be more of a surprise if Brendan Rodgers has not primed his players to be more forceful now, as it couldn’t deal with the attacking runs of West Ham in that game. But new signing Timothy Castagne has been a particular high point so far – and if he can link up well with Jamie Vardy again, Villa could be in some trouble.
But Dean Smith’s side should still be on cloud nine after putting seven past the champions in its last game. That 7-2 thrashing of Liverpool was unbelievable stuff but should not be discounted as a complete fluke. Villa might not score quite as many goals in any of its remaining fixtures this season, but it will give everyone a good game.
An obvious reason for that is the probing runs of Jack Grealish. He is the one that makes the Villa side tick but he is far from the only player to watch in the team. It’s three wins out of three so far for the club that only just stayed up last season – and there should be no opposing team that treats this Villa side as an easy touch at the moment.
My Prediction and Betting Pick
After beating Liverpool 7-2 in its last game to keep up a 100% record at the top of the table it might not have been a surprise to see the bookies offering shorter odds for Villa. But Leicester has looked good for a while and this should be a close game with a few goals shared between the two sides. The draw could be a good value wager here.
