Legacy Esports vs. LGD Gaming – Wednesday, September 30, 2020
We finally saw a glimpse of LGD’s power on Tuesday when the Chinese squad destroyed Rainbow7 to book a match against Legacy Esports. The prize for the winner is a place in the LoL Worlds 2020 Main Event, so the stakes will be high.
No one expected to see Oceania’s representative still in it at this point, but the guys have been excellent and LGD has to be careful. Another sub-par performance and the favorite might be out of the picture.
I share my thoughts on both sides in this Legacy Esports vs. LGD Gaming betting preview. The post includes the latest odds, a summary of what we saw by both sides in the tournament, my prediction, and a betting pick.
Legacy Esports vs. LGD Gaming Odds
- Legacy Esports to win; +300
- LGD Gaming to win; -500
- Legacy Esports (+1.5); +120
- LGD Gaming (-1.5); -182
- Over 3.5; -286
- Under 3.5; +175
The Legacy Esports vs. LGD Gaming odds of the top esports betting sites show that the Chinese powerhouse has regained the status of a huge favorite. That’s probably expected after what we saw on Tuesday, but let’s not forget the team’s early struggles during the weekend.
Legacy Esports Team Analysis
There’s little doubt that Legacy Esports is among the most pleasant surprises of the LoL Worlds 2020 so far. No one thought that the best team from Oceania could compete for a place in the Main Event before the start of the competition.
And yet, the squad only lost against Team Liquid so far and came on top against every other opponent, including the favorites MAD Lions and SuperMassive Esports.
The clever play by Legacy has been impressive and the chemistry has been strong. We saw multiple games won thanks good coordination in the team fights and that could be the key to success against LGD Gaming too.
LGD Gaming Team Analysis
I mentioned that the early struggles could unlock LGD Gaming’s potential and the match against Rainbow7 showed us plenty of growth. I wouldn’t say that the Chinese squad was perfect and there were some mistakes, but that’s not a big deal when you end up winning 3-0.
This short and clear tweet pretty much sums up what we saw in the Elimination Round.
LGD is back!— LGD Gaming (@LGDgaming) September 29, 2020
I’m not sure that LGD is back yet, but it’s all about the results right now and the team got one on Tuesday. Another victory on Wednesday would be enough for a spot in the Main Event, so I expect full focus right from the start.
What bothers me about LGD is that the team has fallen apart several times in group stages, allowing the opponent to snowball after one mistake. I believe this had to do a lot with the best-of-one matches and the favorite role.
The extended best-of-five format brings some calmness to the squad because LGD knows that making a mistake is not the end of the world and there’s enough time to turn it around.
Legacy Esports vs. LGD Gaming Prediction and Pick
The heroic run of Legacy Esports is likely to end on Wednesday and the big question is if the underdog could put up a good fight against LGD Gaming. I’m inclined to say no because of the huge gap in terms of early gameplay and mechanics.
The Chinese team will likely start every game with an advantage at the 10th-minute point, so I won’t be shocked to see a 3-0 victory. The price for a clean sweep is +170 and that’s more than enough for me to back LGD.
