Leeds United vs. Manchester City – EPL, October 3, 2020
It has been a mixed start to the new season for both these two clubs. Leeds has done very well but conceded a lot of goals, whereas Manchester City has played one fewer but was thrashed at home last weekend.
This is a great test for Leeds, as last year’s Championship title winners goes up against a Manchester City team that has not really got going this season so far.
Leeds vs. Manchester City Odds
BetOnline has obviously treated Manchester City’s home defeat to Leicester as a one-off – and still doesn’t give Leeds too much chance of taking another three points off Pep Guardiola’s side this weekend. The odds for the draw do look very attractive but that’s only if you think that City is about to struggle once again.
Leeds vs. Manchester City Match Preview
After conceding seven goals in two games – and three of them to Fulham – it looked as though last weekend’s fixture with Sheffield United would be an early insight into just exactly how good, or bad, Leeds is. The fact that Marcelo Bielsa’s side came away from Bramall Lane with all three points and a clean sheet suggests that it could turn out to be a good year.
It’s another stern test this weekend though, as a Manchester City side still smarting from the thrashing handed out by Leicester, goes to Elland Road. But Bielsa will be looking forward to seeing his attacking players run at a City defense that couldn’t cope with Jamie Vardy last week.
Pep Guardiola will obviously have worked on that during the week but it is probably going to be an unfamiliar central defensive pairing once again on Saturday. Garcia and Ake struggled with Leicester and could find things tough with the likes of Costa, Klich and Bamford streaming forward at every given opportunity.
There are also a number of injury worries up front for City. It seems incredible that a club of its size – and with the money available – will struggle to put out a recognized striker this week. But Gabriel Jesus has joined Sergio Aguero on the treatment table and the options are becoming limited.
Leeds vs. Manchester City Betting Pick
It seems inconceivable that Manchester City would lose again but the odds for a Leicester win last weekend were around the +900 mark and that ended up being a very comprehensive victory.
I feel that City will come back stronger on Saturday – but it will have to. Leeds is a good side and Guardiola has a lot of injuries to deal with. The draw bet could be the one to go for here.
